The good:
Everything works, nice bright DMD no errors, playfield pretty good with an exception (see below) bottom of boat ramp could do with new decal, inserts are all ok. Topper works, LEDs throughout, nice bright, looks good

The bad:
Normal faded cab, few bumps and dings, legs could do with a lick of paint. Small 5mm ding in playfield under left flipper, tiny hole made by as screw tip in middle of flippers below the playfield.

The ugly:
At some point someone has dropped some resin type material on playfield which has drissled down, see pics, it does not affect play and I did start to very carefully remove some and it does come off but really slow to avoid damage, I have not continued due to risk of paint removal, perhaps someone has some bright ideas to get it off. a few rudementry wiring bodges previously.

I would describe the pinball as a decent players machine.

I am around most days for viewing but away on 3rd october for a couple weeks. I am located 15 mins south of Gatwick
Also listed on ebay as its £1 listing, forum members will have priority.

Crikey, how’s a man to get his first pin when they go so fast? I was under the impression a viewing would be arranged first and then payment made. How does one get their foot in the door to have first dibs on a machine? Or is it simply you have to pay first before collection?

Hi, sorry about that. Another forum member has messaged and has committed to take it, if it falls through you will be first to know.

Hope its the guy looking for his first pinball, gret starter table and a fantastic classic game.

If something is cheap it will go in seconds here. Usually a PM to the seller saying I'll take it suffice. A small up front payment helps to show commitment. Then go a.nd collect and pay the remainder. If you don't like it once you have played it more, put it back for sale here. Popular titles liked FT will always sell. If you struggle to sell it back, be prepared to loose a little bit on it. People make a bit thing of selling it back for what they paid for it (me included). But the reality is that you will have had tonnes of free games on it. Where is that in the balance of monies? And what hobby do you know that costs nothing? None. Pinball neither.

Just an idea @Paul - is there a way we can have an 'AWAITING PAYMENT' option on these for sale posts. Would be useful. Almost like the 'sold subjected to contract' sign on a house?

I'm the same mate.

I have the notifications set-up but sale is often agreed before the notification arrives. Ironically ebay is looking a far more likely way to purchase a machine.

We'll get you sorted though mate, as you know I've got my eyes peeled for you. Keep smashing that high score on your Attack from Mars and we'll have to be like Clint Eastwood on the draw if something comes up.

I have seen this Hurricane machine pop up but I don't fancy it alongside the Popeye.

Edit: It's the same seller 😂😂 I swear I'm struggling to navigate this site correctly

@Gonzo Cheers for the encouragement fella. It probably doesn’t help that I’m a born procrastinator and I’d be worried about how I might arrange collection, van hire, help to move the machine et. al. E.g. I’d be thinking right, I need to get all that arranged in advance prior to being able to agree a price with the seller and going for a viewing. Otherwise, I’d be wasting the seller’s time as I can’t say when I can collect it and I’m not sure how long between saying you want the table and actual collection is acceptable - a week? A month? Couple of months? Ha! Ha!

Guess it’s just a case of PMing the seller ASAP and just registering my interest and then starting to sort out the logistics of what happens next.

Anyway, this is all my own dithering and waffle. Don’t want to clog up this thread. Thanks again though buddy and GLWS to @Tommy and congrats to whomever it was who has purchased this machine.

And while you're registering your interest, someone else is buying it with a bank transfer...! If you want it then you have to agree to buy it otherwise it'll be sold to someone else who wants it.

This is why people visit pinfest and various pinball locations throughout the country to play different games so they know what they're prepared to buy when they come up for sale.

There is a saying on here “ you snooze you lose “
If it’s a good price it will be gone in no time.
There was a really nice original MM earlier this year, I made the mistake of not snapping it up quick. Not seen a nice one since.

I have a van mate, if anything ever comes up and it's in my area I'd be more than happy to collect it for you.

As discussed before I was in your position 3 months ago. Trying to get your first machine seems like a minefield. Clearly many on here know each other very well but the thought of transferring a couple of grand to a stranger at the other end of the country seemed daunting to me.

I think you have done things the right way though, you know far more about the various pins than I did when I purchased mine. Also hiring one first and getting out to play a few machines will have helped enormously.

@Moonraker Ah I see. So it is a case of people transferring over the money straight away as soon as they see the listing. Right. I don’t see myself ever doing that. I would want to view the table with my own eyes and with preferably an experienced pinball tech friend alongside me. Only then would I feel comfortable handing over what is an immense amount of money for me and my family.

I do have an ever increasing impression of many tables which I have now played at events and onsite and have a little shortlist of potentially affordable titles I’m working on. But I still wouldn’t feel comfortable just buying a machine I know I like on little more than an advert and some photos. Presumably, condition and function and value would vary widely across multiple examples of the same title.

Thank you for informing me though. As I’ve openly said many times, I’m still very new to the hobby and this forum and its thanks to advice from others, that I’m learning all the time how the pinball hobby and community works.

For the time being at least, I’ll sit on my hands when it comes to buying off here or eBay then and see if I can keep on meeting folks and build up a few more contacts in person. Then I might hopefully buy a table from one of these friends when the opportunity arises.

@Lroy I personally wouldn't ask for payment upfront and would always prefer the buyer to come and see it in person, you can normally tell if someone is genuine on here about a purchase but also need to be willing to relist or offer to next in line if it's not what they expected. If in doubt about someone asking for a small deposit will help. The only exception is if it's too far and the buyer is happy to take a gamble and have it shipped, then obviously money upfront. I would ship a machine to someone but would feel a little uncomfortable as your right people's take on condition Varies massively.

@Tommy No worries dude. Thanks for the insight from a seller’s perspective. I’ll say no more as this is your advert thread [emoji3526] and GLWS buddy [emoji106]

Congrats on the sale.

Regarding LRoys quick sales question. If the price is right then things don’t tend to hang around (although the higher price end of the market is softer at the moment)

There’s plenty of folk on here who are willing to buy machines unseen. I must have had over 50 games and not been to see one first as it’s too much hassle. I’d trust the descriptions from the vast majority of members. eBay is a different story. Buy there on the basis it’s probably ****ed.

On sales thread here @Lroy - we have no 'rules' on it. It is down to the buyer really. Some want bank transfer straight away. Others want cash on collection. I have even had a machine that I paid for after delivery when I was happy with it. But the later relationships are built up over time.

Personally - I would always offer a deposit if you PM to buy a game.

ALSO - WHY IS THIS FISH TALES STILL FOR SALE !
GLWS.

😂😂don't worry about it, didn't read into it any which way !been meaning to update the listing 👍
