Fish Tales sound issues

Hi All .

Hope you're all well . My Fish Tales has been neglected over the last 3 years . I've been away a lo and it hasn't been getting the use it needs . I'm now trying to work my way through a list of issues that it currently has . My CPU board eventually started suffering from issues relating to battery leakage . That board has now been replaced with a new one ., which has cleared up a few intermittent issues that it had .

However , I have a sound issue . If I go through the T.7 tests some of my sounds are not there . Instead of the intended sound I get a dull kind of drone . If I run the test repeatedly then some of the ones that give errors initially sometimes work and other ones might fail . Unfortunately , I don't have a video to post which shows the fault . I'll be able to take one in a couple of weeks , and I'll copy the link in once it's done . The fact that it's not always the same sounds that give this "error" would make me think that it's not U18 , but I'm not sure . I can burn another one when I'm back to try it , but I just wanted to post the issue on here first in case anyone had seen something similar .

Thanks in advnce

Sammy

Yes sounds like an intermittent data line to me. Try reseating the ribbon cables at the sound board end AND the cpu end.

If fault persists after that, try applying some gentle pressure to each chip in turn while a non working test sound is on repeat.

Let us know what you find!

Have you tried the good old fashioned reseating of all the connectors. Several times to remove any tarnish.

If you have, I’ll bow out 🤣

Hi Guys !

Appreciate all the comments . I think I did the ribbon cable and connectors the last time I looked at it . But I'll go through it again . I'll also try the pressure on the ICs with a plastic trim tool to see if that brings up anything . It's pretty weird . More to follow .

Cheers

Hi Again everyone .

I was back home again last week and made a video of the issue my machine has . Check the link below . I made no attempt to try and localise , or repair the fault . The reason for this is that I think I'm going to be moving the machine overseas soon , and if I do that then I'll be removing the backbox completely , and reassembling it again once it arrives at it's destination . I really just wanted to show you all the fault so you could see it .
