Switched my FT on tonight and... nothing. Totally dead. :(

Swapped 5A Slow-Blow fuse in the PSU by the coin door with the one from my (confirmed still working) No Fear. No Fear still works with the fuse out of FT, FT still dead with No Fear's fuse installed.

Same result swapping the power leads connecting from the mains socket to the back of the cab. No loose connections from the back of cab power connection inside the box either.

Both feed off the same mains socket, so thats not an issue.

Any suggestions for what to check next? Was fine yesterday on last use.

Totally no response from anything when flicking the power switch. No difference between switch in on and off positions.

(edit: Note no suspicious bangs/ electrical noises or smell of smoke or anything either when I first switched it on tonight)

You mean the power lead? As I said I swapped it with one that had seconds before powered up my No Fear.

Sounds like a wire come off the switch in the box. Unplug everything and dismantle the box very carefully!

You may need a multimeter to check if you're blowing either the socket or line fuse. Replacing fuses could just be blowing the replacements if you have a short somewhere.

Sounds like it could be the mains selection plug on top of the switch cover. Turn off at the mains first though as it is normally live even if the machine is switched off underneath.

I have used an easier alternative. Swapped everything over into my NF and watched that still work ok. Mains fuse and screw in PSU fuse all seem ok.

Not sure what this is - Are we talking something on top of the power on/off flick switch thats under the front-right of the cabinet or are we talking about the on/off switch itself?

Oh yeah - Before doing any changes/ investigation the machines DEFINITELY unplugged at the mains and backbox. Electrocution is not on my Xmas list.

Inside the coin door on the right hand side is a metal cover for the switch. The line voltage selector is a plug with a few linked wires in the top of it. See here:

I suspect you have a loose wire or bad connection on the molex connector or plug.

I've just realised I've been passing on duff diagnostics here - While I did swap the fuses from FT to NF and vice versa, I only took the power led from NF and attached it to FT - I didn't do the reverse.

I guess you know whats coming now - I tried both power leads in NF and that doesn't power up either...d'oh.

Ok so its the power leads, most likely fuses blowing. Opened my leads up and they're only on 5A fuses - Is that sufficient or should they be on 10 or 13A?

The start up current can be as much as 7 Amps... so no the 5 Amp fuses are not sufficient. I'd put a 13 Amp fuse in as they are most easy to find.

Sorted. Found a lead with a 10A in it already and FT now back to normal. Replaced the other 5A fuses with some spare 13A I already have, assuming up to 13A is not an issue if it comes up the line?

Sorry for the extended hassle and thanks for all the assistance.

Personally I'd use a 10A ( I do in mine).... There again i am guilty for running extension lead off extension lead off extension lead (and whilst they warn against this, my view is that as long as things are fused properly....
