Hi All
It is with regret that I am selling my Fish Tales. I've got something else coming in and I just do not have room. So, sadly, it's got to go.
I'll add some proper pics tomorrow but in the mean time you can see some of the details here:
Complete - Fish Tales - Very Mini Shop | Pinball info
To be totally open and transparent about this, I purchased this game from the forum a couple of months ago for £900. Since getting it I have:
Fixed all the problems so that is working/playing 100% - This included fitting some new switches, new connector to get GI working again, rebuilt sling shot, installed correct target and some other minor stuff.
Done a full LED conversion. Decent quality LEDs too. There are £130ish worth of LEDs in there. The only incandescent bulbs left are the backbox flashers as I think they looked better.
Striped the playfield and cleaned everything.
Installed a new full rubber kit.
Replaced every star post with new ones.
Replaced every plastic mini post with new ones.
Re-Foamed all standup targets.
Installed new balls.
The game plays great and everything works as it should. Topper is present and works properly. I would describe the game as a solid player's condition game. If you are after a minter this is not the one for you. If you are not bothered about having perfect condition and just like to play great games then you could do a lot worse than this.
Not so great stuff:
The cab is pretty much as faded as it can possibly be.
The playfield has insert wear in the usual Fish Tales places. (The fishes on the line, the tacklebox and where the boat ramp meets the playfield.)
The legs are rusty.
When I first got the game I couldn't lift the playfield as it wasn't sitting in the cab properly. I had to lift it into the correct position which is not somehting I've ever seen before. Anyway, it's been fine since apart from one time when I lowered it after working on it it didn't want to slide back in. I had to jiggle it and then it went. It's been fine again since. I am probably making a big deal out of nothing but I thought it worth mentioning. May be a slight issue with the playfield brackets or something?? It seems fine now though.
I'll add some other pics tomorrow.
The price is £1000 which I think is reasonable considering the work and new parts I've put in. I'm not in the hobby to make money. I'm in it because I love pinball. If I could keep them all and never sell then that is exactly what I would do. But, alas, that is not the case!
It doesn't take Carol Vordaman to work out that I am losing a considerable chunk of change in this deal. But I've had my fun with the game and I have set the price at what I think the fair market price of this particular title, in this condition is and not 'the game owes me X amount' price that I see pretty often these days.
Oh, and Yes, I know that carpet is ****ing hideous before anyone starts!!! (Particularly you, Dan!) I've just relocated and am currently in a rented house so there is **** all I can do about it.
Game is located in Dorset. Martin is coming here at the end of the week so if somebody wants it and wants him to pick it up it could work out nicely.
That's about it folks.
Dean
