Hi all,

I've recently got back into pinball, and I'm looking to buy my first table. Big horror nerd, so I'm into anything along the lines of Stoker's Dracula, Creature From The Black Lagoon, The X-Files (I know...) etc. I have a budget of around 1k. Can't drive (working on it!) so delivery to London would be a plus, but I can make courier arrangements for the right machine

I've seen The X-Files on a couple of sites for around 2.8k, but seems a bit steep? Probably asking for it there, since I know a lot of you wouldn't touch it with a pole :D anyhoo, if anyone has anything for sale that they think I might be interested in, give me a shout!

Welcome aboard mate. If you pay more than £750 for an xfiles you've paid too much .

Easily get one of those for way less than a grand

Unfortunately you'll be very lucky to find a BSD or CFTBL for less than a grand, they're more like £1400 (BSD) and £1600 + for a CFTBL

An X files for less than 750? I would be up for some of that!

Ive only had pins for around a year and made a conscious effort to go for the lesser known pins first so I can get maximum enjoyment. If I had gone for something great straight away then I would have been bored with everything else thats on offer.

Welcome back

Welcome th Pinball Info.

Think Gaz is spot on with his pricing of the games you are interested in.

There are other horror titles they will also be less than a grand like Class of 1812 and Nightmare n Elm Street just to name two.

X Files is woeful

I agree X-files is despair incarnate. Truly a horrid machine. I think only Gilligans island makes my skin itch more.

Class of 1812 however is awesome. I never get tired of the multiball overture tune with the chicken clucking to it.

For a first machine just go for what you want and what's the your budget.
Then is the time to save for a better title like Creature or BS Dracula.
Main thing is enjoy.

There was a nice Earthshaker for sale on here, not sure if that's still for sale.
Would make a great first machine.

Loads of great machines for under a grand. Only issue is that you are in London so pay the southerner's pinball tax :(

Lots of people around London with pinball machines. Really burns me having to drive that far, but I once drove to Brighton for an £1100 Totan.

It's worth driving to Brighton for a £1100 TOTAN.
I have had a few bargains in and around the London area and a few recent sub 1k bargains, so they are out there.

Yeah, I managed to get a lot of the now 'unobtanium' machines before the prices went mental. I actually turned down a £2300 MM once too (slaps forehead).

It was even more mental before ebay/tinternet etc. I bought my first table from an ad in 'pinball player' magazine.

Only one of my machines came from ebay. I cracked recently and decided to impulse buy a JM. Thankfully, its a great machine!

Apart from here and eBay is there any where else you guys recommend for buying pins

In all honesty ebay has become the 'go to' place to sell a pin. Everyone uses it, everyone will see it and everyone will know how much it went for. That said, I use ebay to compare machines from enthusiasts and I usually end up going the enthusiast route. You generally get a better deal all round.

Keep your eyes peeled in the for sale section here, and on the yahoo UK pinball group.

The POA wow what ever happened to those boys.
The days before eBay and as many cheap machines you could shake a stick at, ah, happy days.
There were loads of machines being offered for very little money compared to today's prices.
I to am one of the lucky ones that bought all the machines and played everyone I wanted to back in the day. No regrets on selling anything or keeping stuff , just happy to have had a blast on nearly all the Pinball titles, just a few that I would still like to play.
Bally/Williams are my Grail of pinball machines, they defindefinitely knew how to make the best machines ever made.

Nothing has come close to the their level. Yet.

For sure. Bally/Williams are the very finest. STILL to this day. I wonder how long that perception will stay? My guess; a VERY long time.

The advantages of buying from an 'enthusiast' is that usually they have been pre-fettled and should work almost/if not all properly
Hope you are talking about Bally/Williams and not the POA.:p

POA was class. It was more like a classic car club with lots of grey beards drooling over 60's EMs.

With all the cuts and the quality of new machines nothing is ever likely to come anywhere near the the Bally/Williams model.
