February Fantastico at PBR (Feb 21st/22nd)

How exactly does strikes work mate? I'm not familiar with the format, cheers !!!
Hi you get a number of lives if you come last in a round you lose a “life” when you run out of lives you are out of the comp.

Can someone correct me if I’m wrong?

Yup, but depending on the comp the strikes can be dished out in different ways like 0/0/1/1 or “progressive strikes” 0/0/1/2 or even 0/1/2/3 if you really want to punish coming last and cut to the chase quickly

I know of one more strikes format that has become more popular lately - "Fair strikes" which is 0/1/1/2.
It can be unforgiving as you are under continual pressure but ensures the comp keeps moving which is very useful for an evening comp with limited time available.

Reminder about these two events coming up on Friday/Sat Feb 21st/22nd for FEBRUARY FANTASTICO at PBR.

Join us for the first PBR Big tournys of the year:

Strikes Friday evening - short 4hr comp
Saturday 200% Wppr points big matchplay comp. 10x2 rounds so 20 matches guaranteed. At least 16 qualifiers, double elimination matchplay playoffs. This means you get two chances effectively if you qualify.

Take on reigning large comp champ Dan Pike who won the Turkey matchplay in Dec and the usual smattering of PBR favourites...
All are invited as ever at the club, irrespective of skill level - we usually get a great range of abilities and newcomers and children are very welcome!
Big WPPR world ranking points are also available for those who care - Saturday will likely be the highest value UK event so far in 2025.

Great practice also for those who plan to come for UKCS as well.

Will ask for a matchplay link and hopefully we can get some early signups going and a great turnout.

Keep the date(s) free! :)

Have signed up myself and James so far, hoping the whole family will come.

If you are free, come play and check out new PBR - especially if you haven't had a chance to see the new location yet!

A flurry of signups in the last 2 days, including (but not limited to):

Luke Grayson
Josh Iles
Rhian Best
Ed Rojas
Dennis Osborne
Nick Hamill
Lan Aw
Michael Aw
Keith Burden (marked attending but not on link yet)
Mike Parkins

This is going to be big, as we await news of the EAPA gang attendees, Midlanders and more. Can we reach 50+? Sign up below:

If anybody is on the fence, the hotels are crazy cheap for the Friday night - the Premier Inn Purley Way is £38 and town centre was only about £5 more.

I won’t be playing the strikes but will be heading over after work so I’m not doing 6+ hours of driving in one day

Just wondering about the finals format.

So its top 16 with H2H playoffs, is it best of 5? best of 7? Higher seeds choosing games?

Also how does the double elimination bracket work for finals?
