Sold Fathom - Bally - £1500

Selling my 1981 Bally Fathom as I just haven't been playing it that much in the last few years.

I've owned this machine for 25 years after it was shopped and sold to me by Pinball Paradise.

Asking £1500 for it. I'm located in Newbury, Berkshire. Collect only.

The board set, playfield, backglass, displays and cabinet are all still original parts.

Pros:

• All incandescent bulbs installed, and all fully working
• Brand new rubbers installed
• Machine fully working - displays, solenoids, switches and sound
• Playfield cleaned and waxed
• Backglass and cabinet in good condition

Cons:

• Right "Cave Trap" plastic has crack around screwhole (see photo)
• Plastics by flippers replaced with metal parts (as shipped to me by Pinball Paradise)
• Small amount of wear on playfield at the gate to the top left of the "A" lane (see photo) but the rest of the playfield is in excellent condition for its age
• Player 3 score display has stuck on commas with burn in (see photo)
• Missing playfield prop
• Missing coin door decal
• The side art on the backbox is the version with the incorrect stencil order!

Also throwing in:

• Handful of spare incandescent bulbs
• 3 full Bally linear flipper rebuild kits (doesn't really need them though)
• Collection of Cupro-Nickel (1992-2012) 10p coins suitable for installed left-hand coin-mech (machine does not have free-play).

I am selling mode. It wasn’t aimed at you mate, but as a community (if this is what this forum is), I just think we should be looking out if seller is unknowing leaving huge sums on the table.

I didn’t get it, it’s gone to someone else. I don’t think there are huge sums here, SS pins are at an all time low and even the big SS Titles are not selling, or taking ages to (not ideal if you want rid in a hurry). My opinion is it’s a £2k pin with the minor bits sorted, not a massive gain for anyone having to pay the transport costs. Just my opinion of course….

As others have said this is a community who looks out for others, many will say when something is overpriced, and the merits of that have been debated but it goes the other way too

Even non working someone would buy it for what you’ve listed, it’s worth way more even in this market

Just to save poor Brian getting the scrutiny, I will hold my hands up and reveal it was me who was lucky enough to message first.

There will be no flipping whatsoever because I'd like to have it in pride of place next to Dolly Parton. It will be very much cherished.

Ideally Keith can help me fix whatever needs sorting and I'll make sure I take it to Pinfest next year for everyone to enjoy along with Eight Ball Deluxe (Dolly this year).

The seller is local to me and welcome to come and play his old game any time he likes.

Nice to see a “that’s too cheap!” Thread out of the one million “that’s way too expensive!!” Threads though lol shakes things up around here haha. Maybe we need a few more of these cheap games?

Thanks for all the excitement and interest. As posted above by @Gonzo , now sold. I needed it moved out quickly and with minimal hassle, so priced to sell, but I guess I did underestimate the interest in Fathom compared to other Bally SS.

If I had a nice fathom I'd be a bit miffed. Does seem to be the last price sold is the new benchmark on here. I sold my Barracora few months back for similar price. Id have snapped your hand off for a swap I do understand the sellers view still...

In my opinion this will be regarded as a one off and will not become the asking price for a Fathom going forward.

Fathom is a bit like the Addams Family of the Bally '81 line up and will continue to fetch more money than most Early Solid State titles.

Cheers Dave mate, right place, right time and I'm able to get over quickly with the van at short notice.

I've missed out plenty of times in the past but the seller is an absolute gent.

The funny thing is, if he'd have overpriced the game he'd have got it in the neck too for being unrealistic in the current climate.

Everyone is suffering a bit though. I picked up a game recently, overpaid probably and now have to get a new soundboard and DMD which I hadn't priced into it. Swings and roundabouts mate.
