Ebayer again!

I sold something on ebay last month I put UK only but someone from China won it, my gut was to cancel it but I decided to go with it as he was happy to pay the post. I sent it int RM tracked and insured. Now the guy is saying he can't get it because I never put his phone number on the parcel! (I did) said it can't clear customs and will be sent back to me! Never heard the likes, He now started a paypal claim now escalated by him!

Should have went with my gut! Has anyone heard the likes?

Have heard if no phone number that some couriers won’t even attempt to deliver (even in U.K.)

You can provide proof you sent it, advise not waiting on a decision from PayPal/Ebay before speaking up, be proactive with your claim. PayPal/Ebay seem to side with the most vocal side as a default

As a master eBayer, 10k sales as my business then the onus is ALWAYS on the seller. The seller gets a rough deal these days
As long as you can prove he has received it, then no issues eBay will check the tracking number

If not then theres not much hope i`m afraid !
 
Yeah RM tracking points to a link to China post but I can't read what it says lol. looks like I will be out of pocket to the tune of £152 As the tracking stops at "arrived at" been like that for weeks via the ebay link to the sale
 
There are limits to how many spurious claims can be opened on eBay so maybe they can't use the eBay resolution process so have skipped that and gone to PayPal. As you have a tracking number what should happen is that PayPal will temporarily freeze the funds from their payment and will wait until the situation is resolved before releasing them back to you (if the item is delivered).

I'd suggest your next step is to ring up Royal Mail and ask them from that tracking information if it looks like its still stuck in customs, or if its proceeded from there but missed getting scanned elsewhere.

I'm a bookdealer on eBay and there seems to be less problems in the book category than average.

out of interest what was it? Has the customs charge spooked them?
 
I deal with China a fair bit at work and they are always very insistent about having a phone number.

We've refunded the buyer​

We've completed our review of this case and have decided the case in favour of the buyer. The buyer stated they never received the item, and the proof of delivery details provided could not be verified.

We refunded £152.80 GBP to them.
 
Also seems I can't claim back the selling fees! As it's more than 30 days there is no provision to cancel the sale!
 
Hardly use eBay now, you have to have your wits about you now as so many people are trying it on and Ebay just don’t care anymore.
So your buyer might still get the delivery, had the money back and Ebay charged you for it🤬

this is why I avoid selling anything of value on ebay now. he's going to get the part and get the money the *******.
 
Yeah I only recently started selling bits and bobs on ebay and have done well with most bits but it's ****s like this that put me off
 
I thought you could restrict where you could post an item to, so preventing international bidders?

It must be possible since I've previously seen something to the effect of you're not allowed to bid because the seller doesn't post to your location message before.
 
Yeah I put post to UK only so not sure how it works! Won't do it again that's for sure
 
It looks like it might be under the 'buyer requirements' section. There is an option to block 'buyers in locations to which I don't post'.

I guess you'd also have to set 'no international postage' on the auction as well.

Sounds like you put in the postage cost for UK only, but didn't pick the options to exclude where you would post to - if so, any buyer could buy it, but would have to request postage cost before they could pay.

You should still contact Royal Mail - if its been lost you can make a claim from them, if they think its been delivered then you go back to PayPal with that information. It is possible to reclaim eBay fees after 30 days, just that you can't do it through the automatic process and will have pick the option for them to ring you - very preferably someone from Ireland as they seem to usually have common sense, whereas the other call centre can be problematic as they often don't appear to have proper training.
 
I wouldn't sell $hit on eBay so many dishonest people out there the odds of being scammed is far to high these days.

Will the tracking eventually say delivered? If so can you show that to paypal?
 
I phoned RM they said the tracking was still active and had not been updated China side so should get delivered. I insured the parcel up to £250. If he is honest it will probably come back.

If he is not hope his next S H I T is a hedgehog!
