Hi Guys!!!

Is there a good 'Dummies Guide' to Em's on here?
I know there's loads of tech out there for fixing stuff and maintenance.
I was thinking more on the line of, before you ever turn it on....
Coming from an arcade machine background I know its advisable to check things before you even attempt a repair or even turn it on.
For example:
  • Check mains plug and lead for visible damage.
  • Never turn on a cab until it has acclimatised to 'room temperature'.
  • Check your power supply with no load.
ETC ETC.....

Is there similar standard advice you can offer or is it a case of plug it in and hope you don't see flames????

Cheers guys n gals!

You don't have to worry about frying any electronics with an EM so my general rule is turn it on and look for smoke and fire :D It's worth checking any stepper units, score reels and other mechs to make sure they operate by hand and aren't gummed up or seized but turning it on and seeing how it behaves is the best way to start figuring out what's wrong with it
