I saw a tz and it had a minor issue with the dmd. When I ran the tests every bulb lights strongly.

But during gameplay there is a small area where you get a ghosting - a half lit dot that shouldn't be on. Also the odd dot is missing during gameplay in this area.

Re-running the tests, when the vertical bar crosses the screen in test mode, every dot is bright and looks correct. But one row of dots does not immediately turn off as it should, it kind of half flights momentarily.

This is something most rational, sane individuals would ignore. I should know better, I know.

But is the a symptom of a board about to die, a dmd about to die ?

Any wisdom gratefully accepted. Thanks

Doesn't sound too serious to me but may be the start of the DMD gassing out. If this is a game you're looking to buy then try and negotiate £180 off the price to cover the cost of a new DMD :D

I bought the TZ. I also own an addams and the dmd is perfect on this.

I am inclined to swap them over to see what happens, to see whether the fault can be isolated own to the tz dmd itself. I have never touched a dmd before. Is is sensible to swap them over, or is it quite difficult or risky to do so I might ruin both of them ?

Thanks

I had a problem like this and everyone said it was gassing but in fact it was the high voltage components on the DMD board (Zeners and diodes) when I change them the display was perfect. Try swapping DMD boards (or displays) with the other machine before buying a new display - a new DMD board is a lot cheaper £60 !!!

Cheers Kev
