I would need to go back through my notes but had a similar issue when what I suspect was a failure of the PAL chip on the DMD board.
Someone sent me a spare board to confirm the issue was on the board. So I bought a replacement board and never got around to fixing it. I was going to try these:

Where are you in the North East? I'm happy to help out if you struggle to fix it with the online help you will get from here.

Thanks, just outside Darlington off the A1 towards Bishop Auckland. I have a spare DMD, I will try that once I get the software download from pin2dmd. I will let you know how I get on

Most stuff can get fixed by carefully following what people tell you on here but always useful to know you have a back up in case. I'm the other side of Hexham from you but regularly pass through Bishop Auckland on my way South so happy to pop by if you get stuck.

I think you can just run the pin2DMD without the software download if it is the colouration files you are talking about. You just will not get the colours.

Can you give me a shout next time you are passing? I have not managed to fix this DMD, checked voltages but don’t want to blow the pin2dmd. Reading may be resistor or something else. Would appreciate help. Let me know

Firstly you should delete your number off this page as it is public. Just use dm for this personal stuff in future.

It's a shame as I passed by you on Sunday and could have popped in then. Not sure when next passing through but will let you know.

Is this something that gradually happened, or had you been doing something in the back box and this occurred?

I moved house, all connections checked and cleaned, voltages short on a couple of pins, out of my comfort zone. I have a pin2dmd to fit. When I find someone to sort it out

Hi Paul, any dates yet?

Update, the DMD issue resolved. It’s amazing what a house move breaks. Thanks to Nevtek. DMD now working. Now to resolve the sound. Any clues on the video sound was playing before DMD and without DMD now all connections checked. Thanks

If you had told me about the sound issue, I could have checked all three boards together!

lol the sound was ok when i had no DMD, i was playing it without the DMD. I am sure its an easy fix as i hear sound when turn on then it dissapears. important thing is the DMD is working
