Diner blowing F3 on Aux Power Board help

So I switched on my Diner a couple of days ago and the ball doesn't get kicked in to the launch lane at the start of a game, although the game is ready to play. I also noticed that the jet bumpers are not working. Those are all special solenoids, so I checked F1 on the Aux Power Board which is the fuse for the special solendoids and it was good. I also noticed that the slingshots are working, and these are also special solenoids. In test mode, only the 3 bumbers and the shooter lane feeder aren't working. Everthing else works fine.

Then I checked F3, which is the controlled solenoids, and that was blown. I replaced the fuse, and game worked for a few minutes, but then it mysteriously kicked a ball into the shooter lane in the middle of a ball. At that point I think F3 blew again, and once again, the bumpers and shooter lane feeder stopped working.

I replaced the fuse and it immediately blew again on startup.

So two questions:
How can F3 blowing affect the special solenenoids, when it is the fuse for the controlled solenoids according to the manual
and
Why are the 3 bumpers and the shooter lane feeder coils disabled when F3 blows, but not the other special solenoids (the slingshots)

And any ideas where to start fixing this?

Thanks

OK, I found/smelt the problem: shooter lane coil locked on and getting very hot. Changed the driver and pre transistors and it all works again. Still a tad confused as to why F3 was blowing....
