We have finally released our Data East replacement rope light string kits for both Hook (1 x red) and Star Trek 25th (2 x blue).

These kits are 'plug-N-play' and install directly to the original wiring harness with no soldering or mods required.

The still pictures below show only one string of the three illuminated.

The development time actually took us nearly a year as we tried several different ways of making these. It's easy to see why nobody else makes them - they are very time consuming to build!

The new rope lights are supplied with a replacement driver board and full mounting kit. This is mainly because the driver board is usually missing or has been repaired numerous times over the years and, in most cases, it's working status is unknown.

Kits are available from Homepin agents world wide.

A short video of the ST 25th ones installed in a machine is on the Homepin FB page here (scroll down a little): https://www.facebook.com/homepin.factory/

I know you have done this to look authentic but WS2812 LED string would have been easier and you could have changed colours.

Thanks for your comments.

We try to make replacement parts as close to original as possible and leave mods to the modding people.

This kit fits straight in to the original machine with the original connectors and mounting. WS LEDs would require a new driver board and (maybe?) different wiring and certainly a large 5V power supply.

The people that ask us to recreate parts almost always ask for a part to return their machine to original - or as close as possible to it.

I add that these strings have been a problem for a very long time and I don't know of any modders making replacements of any type, possibly because (as we found out) it is VERY difficult.

Any information you have on how you did this would be awsome.
I still have the pinball but was so long ago I don't know for sure. I bought a blue led string that flash the led's one at a time, the voltage fed to these was too high for that I think 6 volys? So I had to link them in 3's so the led's would not blow, probably easier buying the kit now! These were not available back then

The kit assumes the machine still has the original wiring harness installed. The rope lights plug into the exact same place the originals did as does the replacement board.
