So my luck didnt last and Ive run into my first electrical problem with my tales from the crypt :(

switched it on and all the GI is out inc back box.
Checked all GI fuses no issues.
In test mode I dont hear the relay clicking for GI.
So I reckon I have a bad relay.
Followed back some wires to the PSU pcb and theres a relay there that looks a bit smokey and is running warm.

What do you think?could it be anything else?
thanks

Actually thinking back now the last week or two the gi was taking 3 or 4 seconds to come on when the rest of the machine was instant.

Re-seat all the connectors and look for burned conectors......mostly it's one of these.

I had a bad connection ones on a wire in the connector.

Thanks doc. I'll disconnect them all and check them out.
Hopefully that's it coz the lights out are getting me down :'(

Get a Multi Meter if you don't have one already, you need to check continuity and voltage. First thing I would do is visually check the connector and the pins, the connector tends to get burned and the solder joint to the pins can crack (due to heat) and need to be re-soldered in

So I got this sorted :)
thought Id share in case anybody ran into this.

So I checked and checked the power supply board and couldn't find any issues but I suspected the relay.
The relay is CPU controlled so I followed back the control wire to the cpu board and pulled it out of its connector and the GI came on.
The GI is wired to the normally closed contacts of the relay so the relay was getting power all the time from the CPU board keeping if off.

so i dont really know why it was stuck high keeping the relay activated but after I reconnected it,its all working 100% again.
need to re punch the cable into the connector properly

Date EAST renowned for GI circuits getting well fooked due to heat-my G n R nearlly cooked my hand once, leave on for 20 mins or so,then check the interconnect join, and the ones on the main board
