CSI has started giving an issue where it seems to give maximum (or very very loud) volume when you first start a game or open the coin door. As soon as you press the volume down button it goes to to where it should for the current setting. It is then ok until the next time you switch the game on.
Anyone else had such an issue with a Stern SAM game?
Thanks
Garry

I had exactly the same problem on my POTC. Took me a fortnight to find the fault.
Check the tube starter in the back box. Mine was an aluminium case one that was causing a spike. Swapped it for a plastic case one and it cured it. Yep it sounds unbelievable but that was the fault.
If yours is plastic remove it so the tube don’t come on or try another starter. If this ain’t the answer then I’ve no idea. Ken

Thanks for that Ken - it looks like that is the problem. Took out the metal starter for the tube and now it’s ok!
During the refurb I had to change the tube as it wasn’t working. It’s obviously started doing it since then and I didn’t realise.
Don’t have a plastic starter but will get one.
Thanks again - glad it was an easy fix 👏.

Wow that’s amazing. just shows how useful the forum is, that would have been a tricky fault to find on your own, but when someone has already figured it out……..

Well done. I even got Phil (ph) involved in helping me with it. Pity all faults ain’t that easy to fix
Ken

I had a similar thing on my gottlieb GoldWings, when you turned it on it would play the music looped. Read somewhere that the tube/gear can cause issues so pulled the starter and it was fixed! Has a new led fitting now.
