While connecting my backbox up tonight 2 of the small small pinned connectors decided they would rather fall off. My question is can I reconnect them? if so how? Or is it a new connector job if so what do I need
They look like small IDC connectors and yes you can re-use them, they work by the wire being pushed through the V at the top of the pin, cutting through the outer plastic and making contact with the wire. There is a tool but a flat head screw driver that isn't shape can do the job if you have nothing else. Looks like there is a plastic cap across the top, flip that off and lay the wires across the connector pins at 90 degrees to the pin, in the V, and push down with the blade on the wire. Careful though as you can slip and put the screw driver into you leg, I haven't done it myself, I put it into another finger.
Get new connectors too instead of re-using the old ones. They're only cheap and I was told a long time ago they are only really 'reliable' for one time usage.
Flip the cap/top off, place the unstripped wire in position under the little retainer things and push down firmly with the tool, preferably with the connector against something hard like the backbox case. Keep the tool straight and you should feel the wire push into place.
