I have peugeot royal blue and also peugeot indigo blue too
But neither are spot on with my new decals
To my eye the indigo blue is right compared to the original blue paint on my game beneath the backbox. But this is a different shade to the original decals!
Only an idea but couldn't you take the decal to a specialist car body workshop, I know that near me there is a car modifying place that can paint match. I don't know if they can put it into spray cans but they might be able to help. Even carrying out the painting side of it for you, they'd also be good for putting the decals on the cabinet if it's something your not sure about.
I went to a paint shop today and saw hundreds of blues. These guys make it up for you. Literally colour books full of blues. None matched perfectly, or indeed better than peugeot indigo blue.
The computer scanner there could not detect the colour either. The issue is that the decal is screen printed with ink, so you (and the computer) see the white vinyl "through" the ink. The guy said that this was a frequent problem with vinyl signs too, when folk wanted paint to match.
The one way I found to match it perfectly is to spray indigo blue onto a white background, but not too thickly
All getting a bit silly for something I doubt anyone will ever notice
True, but I think that's half the enjoyment sometimes, the attention to detail. Not for me especially, but you're not alone in this aspect of your detail-focused personality. Weirdo. This hobby attracts them. I'm probably the most normal one in here.
A fellow customer in the paint shop tried to help. He kindly leafed through all the books and could not find a match either. He did have a very pragmatic suggestion though. A contrasting colour.
I suspect that yellow on the backbox frontal and inner surfaces (visible from the outside) would look rinkie dinkie, but I will stick to blue
