I’ve got an AFM that needs redecalling at some point as the art is VERY faded.

Anyone who’s redecalled a cab? Is it possible to put on a coin door plaque/side blades/backboard and work around that for the redecalling, or will it get ruined?

do if after youve decaled. you want the cab bare so you can fill, sand, paint and prep easy ready for the decals.

Depends a bit on the state of your cabinet and what decals you'll take. If you don't have to do any work on the inside, blades will be fine as will be a backboard - that is fixed to the playfield anyway. If you have extensive work on the outside with filling/priming/prepaint you may be better off doing it in one go. Have a look at Radcals maybe, expensive but sturdy and will cover imperfections.

I wanted to use Radcals, but I've had 'old guard' types telling me they're a cop-out and I should use regular decals. I just think I prefer the blinged-out vinyl look.

I have them on my TZ and like them a lot (no affiliation :-)) - you should paint black underneath though.
