Haven't really experienced this personally as most games I have had the code been completed except for the hobbit.

When I picked the hobbit up it was running version 1.2 of the code, both my friend and I thought the game was a little rubbish, however updating it to version 4.x really improved it, turning a bad first impression into a positive.

I've heard terrible things about some games, walking dead, Ghostbusters, that they turned around with code changes.

Pretty much any Lyman game

Spider-Man, no wizard mode for ages - you could get to Super hero and nothing happened plus lots of other issues I’ve forgotten. It took about 18 months to get good.

Metallica - 500,000 was the only bonus, no crank it up modes, loads of stuff I’ve forgotten. It took over a year to get good.

AC/DC - coloured inserts were only white, no encore mode for a long time, the game still has a lot of unfinished issues code wise. It’s my favourite game but should have been an absolute masterpiece. It took over a year to get good.

Walking Dead - this was an unloved joke, I think pinball heaven had most of their LEs left until the HORDE mode was added and then they sold like hotcakes (this was over a year after release)

Kiss - code was a mess on release and for a while after, then Lyman polished it into what is a cracking game

BM66 - took so long to get anywhere that most people gave up

In my short time in pinball it's definitely been Bond, as Jmac says.

First played it at Electric Circus, I think it had no modes at all, and just had the multiballs. I might be misremembering, but it certainly felt like that.

Now the games loaded with stuff to do and makes full use of the layout.

The modes were crap and very low scoring when compared to the skill shot which was worth 10m each time. 3x skill shots would win the majority of games as the scoring was so imbalanced. Cracking game now though and I’ve had a prem since which was excellent. I’ll revisit bond again

That's interesting bond was a dream theme for me, but playing it, thought it was a bit crap, perhaps this needs a revisit

I always felt perhaps the pro might be the way to go on this game, the moving figure that collects the ball like a claw then waits to you hit a target never seemed to be worth the difference, but I've only played the premium once or twicr

Seems to be a common theme with sterns, any one had other manufacturers where it was crap at the start

Homepin machines were crap at release - unfortunately that hasn't changed as they are crap now as well.
What spinal tap didn't turn out great with code update 🤷‍♂️😉

Blues brothers from the little I played didn't seem to have any code worth changing

The physical ball lock for bird multiball is really good on the Premium but that's about it. As you say the moving figure seems a gimmick, although Mr Gomez has said that further code may improve it. You definitely need to revisit Bond, I can't think of a better pin, ever.

Played Bond day 1 at Electric Circus and it was awful. There was just nothing attached to the shots. That is the game that I can see where code has made the greatest difference.
BM66, Walking Dead, and Deadpool were all compromised by early code, but Bond was just a box of wood and some lights.
