Chicago Coin Gunsmoke machine (1968)

Owing to where I live, we’re going to deliver the pintable next week when the kids are on half term, as owing to me being main carer for my wife, I can only get out and about on an afternoon.

Dunno why I told you all that Bored me self as well……………….

HOWEVER, I forgot to mention that the chap also gave me 9 x Pinball etc. “PINBALL PLAYER” fanzines from the mid-1980s, of which I attach scans of the front covers……………..

I like the front cover of the Aug/Sept 1985 edition with the cartoon of machines playing on machines, and the two jukeboxes dancing together

And check out the page I have also posted of the price of pintable machines in the mid-1980s!!! (I’ve darkened the print as much as I can in software)

Printing quality is not brilliant, as I think they have been done on a photocopier – anyone come across this publication before?

The set pictured by yourself, and those by Alan J, have the same origin, the 'Pinball Owners Association', founded in the late 70's. For a while in the late 80's, I contributed to the magazine, and took charge of the back issues. I recall the feature which ends on the back page you've posted, about the difficulty in buying all four of Williams 2-level games.

That cartoon's quirky, isn't it?. Another I remember by that artist showed a ball, with a face and arms, pointing its finger at a mean looking bumper and captioned "I never even touched you!". The point being that early Bally solid-state games could have bumpers and slingshots operate from over-sensitivity, without contact from a ball.

Re. the fruit machine - a coin slot that low down wouldn't be allowed now, I think there's a minimum height requirement for the coin entry. A 90's Barcrest cabinet that my colleagues and I disliked had a plastic top panel, with a raised bulge which seemed to be there to get the coin/token acceptors up high enough.

The pinball seems quite tidy, considering how long it's been standing unused.

Yes, I thought that was odd, as I'd never seen one like that before where the top slot is for 5p and the bottom 10p

If anyone needs schematics printing, @myPinballs has a large printer which he can use to print them off.

I also have some new paper coming with a glossy finish, so i can print them as before on std uncoated paper or this higher quality stuff that is coated, thicker and shiny. Will be more expensive though than the std prints. (probably £5-£10 more)
