A friend of a friend runs a small museum. The premises are rented from the National Trust.

It has 2 payment systems so it can make online ticket sales and receive online donations. I believe the service is managed by a US based company but I am getting this second hand so don't have all the details

Over time, fraudsters around the world have been sending £1 donations as an off-the-radar test to see whether stolen credit cards are still operational. These total about 700 transactions.

When the credit card companies recover the fraudulent £1 transaction the charity is being charged £15 a time in fees. So the charity is looking at a £10,000 hit that would wipe them out.

All I can think of is...
Charity Commission for advice
Local MP
Journalists/ BBC

Does anyone have any other suggestions please ?

Thanks

Contact them in the order you list
the media is the last people to contact,

EDIT
see if the processing company you mention can stop payments from outside the UK?
I doubt they are receiving many real donations from north Korea
