A friend of a friend runs a small museum. The premises are rented from the National Trust.
It has 2 payment systems so it can make online ticket sales and receive online donations. I believe the service is managed by a US based company but I am getting this second hand so don't have all the details
Over time, fraudsters around the world have been sending £1 donations as an off-the-radar test to see whether stolen credit cards are still operational. These total about 700 transactions.
When the credit card companies recover the fraudulent £1 transaction the charity is being charged £15 a time in fees. So the charity is looking at a £10,000 hit that would wipe them out.
All I can think of is...
Charity Commission for advice
Local MP
Journalists/ BBC
Does anyone have any other suggestions please ?
Thanks
