My bsd started getting a error 61 row short on startup then giving a load of other errors with this.. my dads been checking this out and when the opto 10 ?board is disconnected the error on bootup doesnt show .. when removing the opto board i can see some black pins on the diodes and one of the 3 chips u3 looks burnt out.. would this make sense to have the short errors on startup? Also can the diodes and chip be replaced or is it easier to buy a repro?
Thanks for any help

You should be able to trace through those diodes and see if they have failed open, they can be replaced as can U3 if it is damaged.
I may have a spare from Great Lakes Modular but I can't test it works at the moment as my machine is not together.

But other versions these boards are available and a quick check shows @David retro has them in stock:

If you do buy a replacement, can I have first refusal on this damaged one to try and repair it to help someone in the future?

Easy to repair. Looks like C1 has expired and eaten the trace under it, which is probably causing you the most (if not all) problems. U3 not looking too healthy but is probably working fine, although 339's are plentiful should you wish to swap it out.

A good example (with picture) is shown here:

Thanks guys yeah c1 does look to have damaged the trace thank you for the info if the U3 is available (was worried they might not be ) i will order the bits as he said its definitely gone thanks guys.
Anyone know best place to buy the 339s from? He has diodes and caps
Cheers

C1 is giving all the problems, U3 is probably fine. Replace replace C1 and repair the damaged C1 tracks first and try it out before even thinking of looking at U3.

For longevity D11, D12 and D13 will need replacing, you can see the corrosion on the legs, again probably not the cause of problems at the moment.

For reference https://pinparts.co.uk/pinball-parts/ols/products/lm339-quad-compa a google search will provide you with plenty of alternatives.
