Evening chaps, I have played pinball for a long time but have not played a pinball newer than rfm, what do you rate as the best post 2k game I realise it’s a bit subjective but there must be a stand out game.

Drew

I have heard a few people mention woz, and iron maiden seems really popular although I am not a big fan of the band however I am not a big fan of chicken feet but liked it in party zone

Woz seems just packed with stuff to do and see. Never played it unfortunately.
Metallica and Star trek are both really good games. Dialled in seems to get a lot of love but I think the theme is just awful. It's everything I detest about the youth of today haha.

It is pretty tricky as a lot of the good games have quite specific themes. So depends if you can stomach dad rock

TNA. Played it for the first time yesterday. It’s mind blowing. Haven’t had a feeling like that playing pinball since the first time i discovered the hobby. I must have one. Linear and basic but a master piece. And that sound track.........

Too many to chose from:

The Walking Dead
Tron
Lord Of The Rings
The Simpsons Pinball Party
Iron Maiden
Metallica
ACDC
Iron Maiden
The Hobbit
Star Trek

All these games are better than pretty much all of the pre 2000 games IMO, with a few exceptions (namely TZ,MM,AFM,WH20).

Woz is beautiful but gameplay is meh.

Yet to try TNA but looking forward to it.

Thanks for the tips will have to bob into Tilt next time i am in Birmingham to try a more modern pin, the pin that i really like the look of is TNA i must say i do like non licensed themed games. My favourite game i currently own is AFM

Dialled in seems to come up for sale quite a bit,

from the replies it looks like 90% of the post 2k games are better than the 90's stuff, i need to stop being so slack and try them

WOZ

Honourable mentions to:

Dialed In
Metallica
TSPP

Maybe AC/DC ... but the cannon mech design is absolutely horrible, which really bugs me.

The Walking Dead stands out for me - it’s tough and when you play well it leaves you on a high. Huge on the glory side of the glory vs frustration ratio.

Those saying Woz - woz are you on about?! It’s terrible!

Iron maiden is great but I think it’s frustration vs glory ratio is more towards frustration.

Batman ‘66 when you line up the shots in an episode it’s superb and no theme integration like it.

TNA - just different and so freaking addictive.

Star Trek - such brilliant flow and great theme integration.

Alien - I think potentially a great game cut off in its prime and badly made and a real shame.

Clangers:
The hobbit - holy **** that sucks.
Aerosmith - I just cant gel with it and it feels boring to me.
Houdonti - just too frustrating and irritating

Cheers,
Neil.

All subject to opinion. But for me

AC/DC
LOTR
WALKING DEAD

Don’t expect any major developments though since the 90s. Rules tend to be deeper as more focused for home use rather than for arcades. I’d struggle to think of many features that are 30 years ahead of what was going on in the 90s. Possibly the magnet slingshots in ghostbusters. Lots of ramps and bash toys but surprisingly little real change apart from the recent lcd screens

Interesting info, I will try to play a newer machine ( not many around York unless someone knows different) but sounds like with the deeper rule set it would be better to own

Ac/dc great all round game
Dialled in.
Star Trek
Alien Awesome fun, but risky to buy ref spares,
Full throttle Again lovely game pushing the barriers but taking a chance if you buy it

Some really great games already mentioned. My current jam is Iron Maiden, huge fan of Tron as well.

Also, I'm surprised to see so many people say WOZ. I've not played it but I've heard bad things. Need to check it out for myself
