Hello,

I have my Bally Xenon on loan at @Dave Playman and it has suddenly developed an issue with not powering up and tripping the fuse on the plug / rcd. None of the fuses in the machine have blown

Does anyone know if this game has a line filter, as that was my first idea, but the manual is rubbish.

Any other suggestions or fixes please?

Thanks

You running any other "older" games???

I know Sys11's have a habit of too much inrush current on powerup.... In this case the breaker needs to be changed to a "type c". Wondering if this is a similar issue here.

Almost certainly, unless it has already been removed. Just look for a silver box at the end of the mains cable.

The above article only mentions the varistor blowing and not the line filter which can also blow.

Thanks @JAG555 for the post and the replies so far.
Just to clarify, game was on attract and suddenly powered off. I checked all fuses in the game and none are blown.
The fuse in the plug 🔌 had blown. It was a 5A. I put another 5A fuse in and doesn’t power up. It blows the plug fuse immediately upon flicking the power switch. It also tripped the RCD.
I’ve not had this issue on any machine so far so it’s a new one on me.
I will lift the playfield later and post some pictures up of the area where the incoming mains cable goes 👍🏼
Appreciate any pointers. Thanks 😊

You’ll see the line filter and varistor on the lhs towards rear of cab. It will probably be the line filter. You can temporarily remove both and see if the game boots ok but don’t leave it without them. Just a quick boot test to prove it’s them.

I have new line filters.

Varistors are cheap and plentiful on ebay
