Hello,

I have set myself the goal of progressively collect all the Bally widebodies. I bought TZ as my first one, and would like to add another one in the short term. I have in mind Popeye (£2000), Road Show (£2500) or Judge Dredd (£2000) for now. Those offers are based on the fact that I paid £3750 for TZ in good working order and condition, but with a minor hardware issue, a faded artwork, no LEDs and not re-rubbered. As TZ is the most valuable of the widebodies, it made sense to me that those three pinballs should be significantly cheaper. If I am wrong about pricing, I would appreciate to have a reasonable explanation, especially if I have to raise my offer :) I am also a noob , so don't shoot me.

I am NOT a fan of modding and would expect a machine in its original condition.

I am looking for a machine that has a very good playfield, no damaged/broken toys, no damaged ramps and no major hardware issue.

I do NOT mind if there is a couple of broken plastics, scratches and dents to the cabinet, fading to cabinet artwork, corroded/scratched legs or an odd bad coil/switch. It is NOT an issue if it is not upgraded to LEDs, re-rubbered or fitted with new balls.

Cheers, Yannick

I'm not sure how fussy you'll be able to be and dictate the price mate.

In all honesty if I'd have seen either a Popeye or Dredd for £2k I'd buy them instantly. I just think the paucity of machines for sale and the inflated prices mean you may well have to take whatever you see for sale regardless of mods.

You should speak to rossco, with his table condition ratings and your pricing you two would hit it off,

In fairness you would be behind a very very long line of people wanting any pin for those prices in todays market unfortunately,

you could have bought a demo man at the last south coast slam we ran at the charmandean ( as I can see your from Worthing ) for £1250 and that was ten years ago 🤣
Sadly Those prices you are quoting are very out of date

Can I come with you for a spin in your time machine please 🙏🙏

I’d ballpark for what your describing (standard bulbs/dmd/reasonable players condition) atm…

£2.5k JD
£3k RS
2.2k Pop eye (?) not so sure on this one.

But it’s more waiting for them to come up… the system seems to me; Get alerts on the for sale thread, Wait for something you like to come up on the forum, then all those lucky enough to have the funds - get in with a deposit and arrange to view. First come first serve.

Stuff for sale at a fair price will have a few asking about it. Makes it an easy sell for the seller, and fair buy for the buyer.

@J.C.Rox had em all at one point. All gone now though... might be a thread about that somewhere still.

as per above, the trick is finding them actually for sale, let alone specifying your price which is wishful thinking. I appreciate instinctive noob action to protect yourself from vultures though, but got to be realistic. My 1st Roadshow cost £1,200, and was in decent enough nick, only 5yrs ago. My 4th Roadshow cost £3,500, only last month. The latter had a ColorDMD, solid but slightly faded cabinet, tasteful LEDs and beautifully preserved playfield. £2,500 might get you something these days, and I appreciate you don’t mind scratches and broken coils etc, but it’d undoubtedly require work and your problem would be many hard to find parts - previous reliable suppliers like Pinbits are no longer in business. Some Euro suppliers filled some gaps, but Brexit put them off sending to the UK.

First, find a machine for sale, then ask yourself - does it fit your criteria/standard (if not what’s the compromise?), and then finally - do I want to pay *that* for it.

Honestly you'll be hard pressed to find any pin with a DMD for less than 2k.

I've been offered Demolition Man for £3.5k, If someone offered me a TZ for £3750 either they really like me or they are trying to rip me off.

Going rate for DMD Bally/Williams below average (in terms of popularity) i'm finding is £3k+ with Whitewaters and Shadows etc going for £4k...

You will find a few people offering pins outside of the forum for sale. I asked a few why they wouldn't put it up here and they didn't like the price bashing that sometimes goes on here so stopped advertising them here which is a shame..

Its just the time of year (Xmas). Might see more pins post Xmas for sale.

Guys I’m after a nice LOTR, I have a price of £2499.99 in mind, please don’t all PM me at once.

Thanks all for the feedback. In response to some comments ...

I believe that putting in writing your expectations about pricing and condition is a useful thing to do for both the seller and buyer. It provides some guidance to have a smooth and stress free sale/purchase.

I bought TZ three months ago from a coin-up operator. Vince from London Pinball also sold a TZ for £3750 a few months ago, but I was not fast enough to grab it.

About the same time, I saw RS at £2500 and JD at £2750 (in great condition) on eBay. I did not buy them because I was focusing on finding and purchasing a TZ. As for Popeye, I only saw it once, but can't remember how much. According to Pinside, Popeye is the cheapest of the widebodies and ranked #259 in their database.

I have been monitoring eBay for some time, and found that many of the 90s pinballs don't sell if they are over £3K. My personal opinion is that prices are beginning to hit the ceiling, with buyers not willing to pay those high prices anymore.

Keep the T.Z it’s the best of the bunch, I’ve had mine for 15 years and it’s going nowhere, in fact if the box wasn’t so nice I would definitely use it for my last journey lol.

good luck

A lot of the ones on eBay are a scam, rs and jd on eBay for that money sounds like a scam to me

I did fall for a scam when I started to look for a pinball, but eBay bailed me out and I lost nothing. I noticed that scammers have no feedback and use newly created accounts. The RS and JD sellers had old accounts and 100+ feedback.

I also wouldn’t want to pay 3k+ for a players condition Roadshow/JD/Pop-eye. Colour dmd is +£300ish value. LED’s fitted? £200-£250 value I guess. JD topper is probably worth a few hundred.. gold legs worth a few hundred new.. all stuff you can calculate in when looking at sold ones/listings.

Unfortunately tis the season of high prices. If someone had one for sale, it’s probably sold already, and some ppl probably out there overpaying for Christmas. Though can’t hurt to put up a wanted.

People can ask a lot on eBay/Facebook and like you say - look at what’s sold. eBay can have shill bidding so that’s a whole other type of scam people can do..

I was also looking at similar games, JD’s come up - maybe 4/5 a year for sale.. Roadshow a few less… maybe 2/3 a year. I’ve only seen one pop eye for sale on here in the last few years which was I think was good at £1600 but meant a trip to Scotland to collect.

There is of course a few others in the ‘super pin’ range to consider - Star Trek: TNG (3.5kish..)& Demo Man (2.4k ish..)

Good luck with your hunt (!)

Where are you seeing sttng for £3.5k, ok Neil sold his recently but I’m pretty sure that was a one off, I honestly think you are a good £500 off the mark on your prices and probably more than that, don’t get me wrong I can’t stand the prices and wish they were of yesteryear, but it’s like houses all relative, buy high sell high bla bla,
I think you are giving this guy a false view, look at this fh which is on everyone’s lips at the mo, besides the end result, the price paid was £3.5 ish thou paid by a member in the know, now compare a funhouse to a sttng or a tz, ij,cftbl.

If you know of these pins for the prices you say please please let me know, £4K min on a sttng and I think that is good at the moment,

Cheers itch

Hi itch.. I’m not trying to give him a false view.. it’s my view. I kinda now expect asking price for Indiana Jones/TZ at 4-5k so I don’t bother looking at them and their prices very often. But he said he got TZ at 3.7k the last few month which sounds pretty good going to me and TZ>ST:TNG I’d have thought.

I’m talking about waiting, til one comes up on the forum or in a good deal, like Neil’s. But yeah… he may well be waiting a while, and I could be wrong.

That funhouse debacle with that trashed playfield 😬 is shocking, he got stung and I hope he gets it all sorted. Nice to read all the offers of help from the forum. I recommended this guy pays a deposit and goes to look at the the machine which should help avoid that.

Cheers

Indiana Jones for 4 to 5 no chance, unless it's a forum member doing someone a favour.

Having owned a STTNG, buying on here with the good will of forum members a good working one at least £3.5k but closer to £4k maybe slightly more if colour dmd. Unless someone feels sorry for you and does you a favour 😏

LOTR for £2.5k only if the body is full of potatoes. 😂
There one for sale on Tottenham court road

6-8k for an IJ now? 😬

@Itch @cmrl9 what would you guys say he should have paid for his TZ then? 6k-7k?

Like I say, I don’t look at the prices for IJ/TZ often, even ST:TNG as compared to the other super pins … prices are high for what they are IMO. 6-8k for an IJ? Fine, like the funhouse, people can spend what they want on them, that’s their choice and I hope they enjoy them but count me out...Even if I was considering spending 3.5k on a funhouse, I’d sooner spend 2.7k on something like that CSI which just sold on here. Rudy creeps me out, he’s not welcome at my house(!)

There is a JD on eBay and they’re asking 3.9k, pictures are pretty rubbish. What would you pay for that? It’s unlikely he’d get far offering 2.5k, probably even 3k. Maybe offer 2.8..😕 if he paid 3.4/3.5 I think that’d be a bit much. I reckon one’ll come up over the next year for less on the forum.
