Sold Bally Flash Gordon - now spec’ed with added nuts. (Acorn variety)

Now this has sold, so not derailing the thread, why is it that FG commands such a high price compared to other games of its era? I know this looked a really nice example, but FG always seems to attract a premium.

I dunno, I bought one cos of all the hype, was glad to see the back of it. It's not one of the better bally SS's as far as gameplay is concerned, from my perspective. It isn't the worst by far either.
10,000 produced, so not exactly rare.

I believe the game is tough so I can't comment on the gameplay really.

However for me, it's probably the best looking game around. Add in the nostalgia of a film I've probably seen 30 times as a kid and you have a winner. I'd certainly pay a premium price for a Flash Gordon.

But there's something wonderful about these older games. In fact they're fast becoming my favourites and I think I need to get another one just to play whilst I get Eight Ball Deluxe finished. I've not played pinball yet today but I would have done if there was a classic solid state here. . . . no doubt about it.

Theme /artwork/nostalgia factor Im guessing. Bit like Kiss.
I would like both even though they get slated for gameplay

It's the best single ball game ever made and one of the best pinball machines of all time IMHO and I suspect enough people think the same which means it commands a bit of a premium. I've owned or played pretty much all of the Bally games from this era and FG and Fathom are my favourites which is why I still own those two

paragon, centaur and fireball II for me.

Now spec’ed to the buyers requests with led lamp driver board. Led light bars in the bonus inserts. Colour matched silicon rubber set. And trying for the first time colour coded acorn nuts to fit the plastics! Newly available from one stop Pinball. Cheers Mel @PeterFenton I think they look very smart indeed..... (we find with fresh flipper mechs the rubber ones just ping off in high impact areas , which is very annoying 🤓) Although he may now be low on stock as I bought 400🤣.
Packed, wrapped and ready for collection. After a few test games (best score 2.3m) definitely gonna miss this game.
Notice a few have been listing there favourites, here’s mine...
Single ball Bally s.s. Flash Gordon, eight Ball deluxe, Dolly Parton (this could become Viking very soon.... (?)
Multiball Bally s.s. Xenon, Fathom, Centaur. Thanks for all your comments and interest. K.......👊🏼 A few taster pics........

It’s definitely soared in value and become more sought after in recent years. I think it seems to have gone hand in hand with the increase in the tournament scene and competitive players raving about it as the perfect tough as nails tourney game. It’s like a badge of honour - can you handle Flash Gordon 😁In turn piquing interest amongst others . That’s my theory and it’s probably b@ll@cks 😂

I went to repair a local one about 10 years ago and at that point they were still in the hundreds - iirc the owner wanted about 700 if I wanted it which is more than I wanted to pay . Possibly slightly regret that but never that wild about it as a game myself . Looks stunning though .

No Skateball Keef ? Thought you loved that too.
Ahh yeah, I do really love Skateball particularly with the new code that resets the saucer shot so you can’t do “a Craig @roadshow16 ” all day long🤣….. actually I love them all, just attempting to narrow it down is very tricky indeed…..
Keef🤗

I think your theory is a good one Ive, the PAPA tutorials from Bowen, the streamed coverage of tournament games, definitely shows off the really good games and I do think that value has increased because of this on games like Flash Gordon, Paragon, Eight Ball Deluxe etc.

Or maybe I'm just biased......

For the record, Flash Gordon is the greatest pinball machine ever made

What's your game strategy mate have you done a gameplay video yourself at anytime ?
Have you considered the Arduino rules update (it's not currently compatible with the geeteoh so I've not tried myself)

My strat, is go straight after the extra ball. Then the 4 drops on the left, then left spinner all day.

If it's competition, just the 4 left targets and then left spinner, as long as the spinner is decent.

Once you get an established score that's when you can start working on the top playfield, 3x playfield is good with juiced spinners. I don't actively go for the 100k super bonus until I have around 2 shots away. Then I will change focus to that.

It's such an amazing game, esspecially for the age, no one strat, play the whole playfield, all shots important, it's the absolute nuts. Haven't really looked into the new rules/wizard mode etc, but to be honest it doesn't need it in my opinion
