Hey all,

So quick question about flashers in a backbox and if there is any sort of fix for this. I have just finished LED'ing my BSD and it is looking pretty smart, the only thing that is driving me crazy is the backbox flashers. Absolutely 0 of them fire, I've tried a number of things, like putting 9 regular flasher bulbs in (which work) and then 1 LED flasher to see if that is the problem but the 1 LED flasher I leave in will still not fire. Is this just a common thing with games or is there some way of sorting it out? I also don't believe all the flashers are duds. Funny thing is I have done 4 or so around the playfield and all of these work, but these are the 49 style socket ones instead of the 555's.

Flashers I am attempting to use are these. Appreciate any advice!

That is really strange, when I did my previous BSD I had no problems at all. I am guessing you are talking about #89 flashers from memory?
Only problems I had was ghosting on the inserts.

I've used some flashers like those in the past and think I remember them being polarised so have to be in the correct way. Try rotating them .

Like Kevlar said but also bend the prongs out slightly. It helps make a good contact inside the socket. Sometimes the prongs on the leds can slide over to the outside edge making them not light.

Like what's been said a little manipulation and missing about should get them working.
But I personally don't like the look of LEDs in the backboard. Incandescent bulbs look way better as they spread the light better.

I'm with you on that, I love LEDs as much as wez but every time I put them in the backbox I hate them and take them back out. They are just too spotty for my liking. Saying that my latest machine has a backglass rather than translite so I will be trying LEDs in there to protect the backglass. Probably end up taking them back out though.

I got to the point where ANY light In the backbox does my head. Might be time to invest in some of that PDI glass?
