Auxiliary power supply instructions for MadNat board/lighted mods

Folks,

I currently have a LoTR for Trade (but I’m not certain if I want to trade it).

Anyway, not currently fitted is an auxiliary power supply (pictured) to run the many many lighted mods that I also own and haven’t fitted. I also have a @MadNat Feed Frenzy board for splitting the power supply for the mods.

Does anyone know how I connect up the auxiliary power supply to a LoTR and onto the Feed Frenzy board? Can you give me step-by-step instructions, inc. which wires I need to buy?

The PSU takes 230VAC in and outputs 12VDC which should be wired to the blue connector of @MadNat's board. That then regulates a 5VDC rail and distributes it along with the 12VDC on those white headers. The mains can be tapped in the front right of the cabinet by the line filter, or in the backbox where it reaches the game's power board.

Pretty much any wire should do - at these amperages 22AWG or so is adequate. If you want to use those white header plugs you will need the appropriate crimp terminals and crimping tool.

But if you have no idea what you're doing (no offense but it does sound like it), please consider getting someone more knowledgeable to help. Apart from the fact that you could damage some components, mains voltage is no joke!

Hi @VeeMonroe - good to see you've got around to installing this.

On the Stern Whitestar machines - there is a switched mains connector at the front of the machine (inside) - a great write up here for adding an external power supply.

Then from your external power supply connect V+ to + and V- to - on the FeedFrenzy Board. I typically use 22AWG for the 12V connection. For the mains connection - you can find a flex with the appropriate plug on the end and just cut to your required length. Please make sure you connect the earth wire.

Hope that helps

Oh - and I'm pretty sure that AC power for the Bill/NoteDollar Acceptor is 120V so set the power supply to that voltage if it has a selector (240/120). It way auto switch - check the documentation.
