Hi everybody,
So after getting help on soldering irons and tools to buy I’ve managed to get my Capt Fantastic from DOA to 99% working (need a coil and plunger for 1 of 4 flippers).

My next question is what is best to use to clean the dust and dirt that has collected for years of storage? I know there are so many threads on this already but there’s a lot of conflicting info and I wanted to know what people are using more recently. I’ll include a few images of the dirty areas:

Thanks in advance everyone :)

For the playfield
IPA 99.9% stuff first. Use that to remove the dirt and shmutz first. Use a bit of that on kitchen cloth or toothbrush on the roll overs.
Then the Novus or automotive fine polish & wax as mentioned above.

For the cabinet itself I like Flash kitchen orange cleaner for dirt. Just check as you go as it "can" remove some paint. Good stuff though.

I was going to order 99.9% IPA but saw a few people say it melts the clear coating on EM playfields which worried me but I have seen some great results on threads too.

Naphtha is often mentioned with regards cleaning EM playfields. There were some good points raised in this thread (see moonbus) including a pic of my playfield!

Either way, your machine looks great so go careful whatever approach you choose

Ahhh I did have a look at this thread, thanks for linking. I’ve seen a lot of people say Naphtha is the best, my main issue was finding somewhere good to buy it in the UK.
