I have an issue when accessing the site from my home connection, pages fail to load or take minutes.

If I connect to a VPN then the site works fine, as it does from my work internet, so I assume it is specific to my IP address

Can someone look at this , maybe my IP has been blocked somehow?

I can pm the IP concerned if required?

Thanks,
Andy

Please PM me the IP and i'll take a look.

Have had a quick look at the couple of ip's i can see (the one you posted this message from and the one that you registered with) and cant see any immediate issues...

Cheers

It could be a DNS issue and that takes time to resolve. Let us know your OS and I will tell you a quick way to test it.

Hi, as soon as I connect to a VPN its fine, currently on a belgian one, I am using OSX Mavericks but using my Galaxy Note from my home IP address exhibits the same issue

Your VPN could be using a different DNS server. Your Note and Mac could be using the same DNS resolver supplied by your ISP. Is it BT because I have had terrible trouble with them?

Bring up the terminal app (Applications\utilities).
type: ping www.pinballinfo.com
Hit return. Watch for a delay
Then type: ping 195.62.28.254
Hit return. Is the delay less?
If a ping to www.pinballinfo.com is slower then it likely to be a DNS issue.
You can also check which DNS server your mac is using via the following:
cat /etc/resolv.conf | grep nameserver
But I expect that will give the IP of your local router that connects to the internet. You can add in another DNS server on your local machines under the System Preference\Network\Interface(Ethernet for wired or Wi-Fi), in the Advanced area is a DNS tab where you can add more. Google DNS is quite quick.
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
If you add in the google DNS and the try, it will test if your original DNS was causing the delay.

Hi, ping is similar on the URL and the IP address (around 20ms), I already use google DNS, I had a PC business for a few years and am pretty sure I have eliminated anything my end, I am with Zen fibre internet, Zen at work too and have no problems there, again I had to connect to a VPN to reply here, very odd

Zen are good - I used em for years with no real issues - and unlike Virgin they treat you like grown ups as soon as they realise you know what you are on about :D

Cant really explain it. Server is hosted in the UK so not far to go.....

Try a tracert and see if you have really slow connection at one step along the route

tracert pinballinfo.com and post results

For the mac (or linux system) you will need to do:
traceroute -I pinballinfo.com

-I forces ICMP Type 8 (ECHO)

Up to hop 11, my packet has not left BT. Without the -I switch (ICMP Type 8) packets, it goes into a timeout at my hop 18 so I assume some sort of ICMP type 11 filter is on place on the end firewall.

No obvious issues there

Probably just the NSA intercepting your traffic then. VPN will foil them
