Hey techies,
I think I’ve sorted this but.....what you reckon...
I hate the unexplained 😬

So went to have a game on AC/DC earlier and the cannon wouldn’t fire the ball............: also ball launch wouldn’t work from using the fire button.

Did the following steps:

  • Rebooted pin
  • Switch test mode - tested switches, fire button failed to register
  • Unplugged fire button connector and reseated few times
  • Rebooted pin again
  • Checked the leaf switch operation manually, gap and clicks ok
  • Checked for loose and broken wires
  • Checked fuses
  • The LED worked fine at the fire button
Above steps and switch still did not work.

From what I could see, the leaf switch is operated via two wires.

I traced 1 wire green/yellow from the (out) on the connector block all the way to the back box circuit board (switch drive) pointed out in the photo, cable is terminated ok.

The other cable from the connector block (out) orange/white is soldered to the lug with the resistor at the front of the cab near the start button, no visible damage.

Now this is the very strange thing.

After just tracing the cables, doing a little bit of unbinding to see where things went.......

The fire button starts working again??????

This is on a low play LUCI circa 2 year old BTW.

Anyone explain this odd behaviour???

The only other step I did in switch test mode when I realised where the orange/white cable went was depress the start button a few times in switch test mode but don’t think that would matter.

Also, nothing to do with reseating the connector block as the fire button would not work after undoing and re-seating the connector block initially.

WTF??? 🤷‍♂️

I’m guessing maybe just a wee wiggle may have remade a connection somewhere, I’d be pleased it’s working now but I know where you’re coming from in wanting answers. I hate not having definitive cause & fix.
