6V AC to 6V (or 12V) DC

Hello all,
Pinball GI is AC so if I want to use LEDs in a mod I am considering making and is to be connected to GI, I will need to change it to DC.
So I need to change 6V AC to either 6 or 12V DC.

Can I do this using a diode? If so, can anyone point me to one eg on eBay, cos the maths on the internet is confusing me.

you would need a bridge rectifier and possibly a smoothing capacitor. I think you can get 12v dc elsewhere on a wms pin

For a quick and dirty solution you can connect two LEDs as follows:

[------¦>-------]
GI --------[ ] ----/\/\/\/----------GI
[-------<¦------]

For 6v you will only need a resistor of about 33R 1/4W as the LEDs at 20mA will be roughly .02W

Each LED will come on for 50% of the AC cycle, if you put them next to each other as long as they are not directly shining into the player you will never know the difference.

Shout if you want help.
