Often the back box heat holes are broken on Bally SS games.

Would be nice to have a 3-d printed grill to glue or screw over.

Here's an example

And here is the ultimate - a metal grill that was made for a Centaur:

Given there are 4 sets of 2 slot holes, if might be easier to make it as either 4 or 2 separate prints? Dunno?

Anyone fancy a bash please? I just dont have the 3-d design skills.

PS - But I'm prepared to have a few printed up either on your equipment or by JLC or whoever. (again recommendations to who to use and what material with be best?)

Ta

Great idea Alan. It’s a simple geometric shape so wouldn’t be a tough design, as you say, in sections. Would you want it with screw holes or to be glued and flush?

PLA should be fine and can be painted really easily with a primer and then top coat. (Assuming a colour match to body colour is desired?)

I'd probably glue it on

I’ll have a play and see what I can knock up. 3 peices . Each 230.667mm wide by 57mm high should do it.

Ah, sorry measured it on my Speakeasy and it was the perfect size 🙄
Might still work with printed "end pieces", cutting the grill to suit if you can't find the exact size...just a thought

I remember using a router years ago to make a new board for the back of a bally backbox,it took me bloody ages, then I sold the machine six months later :D,the idea of plastic grills to hide damage is a great idea

As a curveball for something bespoke.
A nice piece of lasercut 1.5mm brushed stainless sheet might look nice here. Single piece.
slots made to match the original but a mm or 2 down on backbox size. bottom pic from inside backbox.

just Holes added for pan head screws

No painting required.

The only issue with that is if the original holes are knackered - which they often are, you will still see them.

Just PM'd you with a ZIP file - hopefully that gets to you ok.

I will try printing also, I think Tree Supports are the way to go

Only had the end of a roll of black PLA (must be over a year old) to play with so this warped mid print and the top layers are rough as a result, but size looks good to eye.

Will print with new PLA tomorrow.

Same happened with mine - newish, dry filament, both with & without support, and with stopping the aux fan. Will post pics later, but will bring what I have on Sunday @AlanJ
