2 lamps not working unless I wiggle/press under playfield - how do I fix?

Hey folks

I made a thread in the newbie forum about some snags but a couple of weeks in I thought it would be best to post specific threads about specific problems to help me keep track.

I've got a Williams T2, and two lamps are not working. I have done some troubleshooting, the LEDs work in other locations so it's not that.

These are not GI lamps (I do have a separate problem with one GI group not lighting up but that's for another thread).

Right Checkpoint
I have attached a video. With this one, I identified the wire and if I gently tug on the wire under the playfield, the lamp works. As soon as I let go, it stops working. Am I right in thinking this is a loose connection? How do I put this right?

Load for Jackpot
Similar to the Right Checkpoint, I traced this wire too. This one lights however comes to life up when I press the connector in. It can't go in any further, but pressing in on it makes the lamp work. Again, is this a loose connection?

I have attached two videos demonstrating what I mean.

Is this an easy fix? What tools so I need to get off Amazon to fix it? Is there a YouTube video I can follow? (I did look put they all had different connectors and were more on for problems on the backbox end)

Thanks in advance!

You need to take the lamp boards off, make sure the cables have continuity to the plug (cheap digital multimeter needed to check). If a cable is loose (fault 1 probably), you need an IDC tool from one of the pinball spares dealers in UK. Get the right size. The second one is probably a solder issue as suggested by Chris where a pin has come loose. Unscrew the lamp board, remove the tin (soldering iron, something halfway decent and temp controlled, solder sucker) and resolder after (tin). Ask here if further questions.

Ok, progress! I took the lamp board off for the "Load for Jackpot" and resoldered. The plastic casing holding the pin on the other side was cracked, but it didn't cause an issue.

When I put the board back on, it knocked out another light. I resoldered a couple times making sure not to much other pins which was hard, but this didn't work.

However, I just changed the bulb holder and voila!

As for checkpoint light, which punch down tool do I need? I see two on Pinball Heaven.

Will repunching work? How do I remove the wire to re punch it?

You don't remove the wire, you just punch it in again. There are a small and large size tool, this is the larger one (0.156'' pitch). On resoldering: always resolder all pins, ideally after removing the old tin. Always add new tin with flux. Do use a proper solder iron and cored tin.

Ordered the 0.156" punch town tool. Will update this thread when it arrives.
