Picked up this jigsaw puzzle of a game today as my first ever pre-war game. This is a pure mechanical game so no electricity involved at all and the games flyer makes it look like it could be quite fun for one of these older tables! I was told it's only missing the legs and the glass but the guy I got it from said it came to him in pieces so god knows if it's all there or not. All of the key bits seem to be there so I'm hoping I can make anything that's missing.
If anyone has or has ever seen one of these before or if by some miracle has one or some pics, I'd love to hear from you

@Sgt GrizZ yes mate, I suspect I am  Thanks @johng2611 I'd seen those two and was another reason I went for it as quite like the look of it. There's a pre-war club on Pinside so going to post there as well in the hope that someone has seen the game before or another Daval of similar age that might help with how it all goes back together. I've got a very vague idea of how it's supposed to function :hmm:

There was a stand at the Expo last month with loads of pre-war games. I'll check the exhibitors list for details - some of them were lovely.

Using a bit of Pinfest inspiration I had another look at this on bank holiday Monday. All started well and I traced out the cab pattern so I can make a stencil at some point:

Unfortunately I then started sanding the cab back and the woodworm issue is far worse than I originally though :( The cab is pretty rotten in a lot of places and I'm not sure whether it's worth trying to save it (or even possible tbh). I'm going to park this project for now and have a think about how to proceed but this might end up being scrapped as I don't have the skills to build a new cab and it's not worth paying for one. Some pics of the woodworm damage below and I suspect there's a lot more if I keep going with the sander!

That is a lot of worm sign, not a thumper ion sight... :)

Boron is great as a treatment - stops them digesting, so they never get to shag and make more worms.

cab looks salvageable to me - plenty of worm killer then wood filler should sort that out.
It's worse than the pics as I decided to stop sanding so I'll be taking loads more off to get to solid wood. I will re-visit it with the sander one more time at some point before I make any final decision though

The only thing I can think of is drilling small holes and pouring fibreglass/epoxy resin, with all the little holes the worms have made it should seep in quite well. Might help strengthen and bond the remaining wood?
