Coming Wednesday 17/07 at 19:00 is the inaugural pinball event at Level, Preston. If you've not been to Level, it is a bowling alley in the town centre that has an arcade on the lower floor with 9 pinball machines provided by Phil at Pinball Heaven.
This will be a pilot event with the view to potentially run a monthly league or events there in the future. I'm hoping to run each league round / event using a different format to keep things interesting as it'll be on the game set of games each time.
The plan for the pilot is to run a Flip Frenzy event with 2.5 hours of qualifying with trophies awarded to the top 3 at the end. Entries will be capped at 25 people. If you've not played in a Flip Frenzy its a fairly simple head to head format that allows for plenty of matches in a set period of time. I'll explain the format fully to those who enter and again before the start on the night.
Note there will no "official" practice period before the competition starts, machines will have their settings changed and put onto free play shortly before the start. If people want to play machines on coin drop any time before they are changed over they are welcome to. The competition start time will be 19:00 and run until 21:30, please make sure you arrive in good time (say between 18:00 and 18:50) to get registered, sort payment, put your food choice down and collect your drink voucher. Food will be served during the event.
Entry is £20. This includes entry for the competition, food (pizza with chips or hot dog with chips) and a soft drink voucher.
Machines in the competition will be on 3 balls with no extras. A number of settings will be changed to make them play more difficult as ideally games in a Flip Frenzy format need to be short. Currently at the venue are:
