THIS WEEK IN PINBALL: Iron Maiden Stream, MGC Preview, Deadpool Speculation, Trudeau, More

Yep mega price and limited to 1080 or something silly so I have been told the licence stipulation on this are mental also not allowed to go into public ie arcade so I suspect it would be locked to free play

same as batman though in fan craziness-> enough Beatles loons that will buy it.

A lot of beatle collectors with very deep pockets, if it looks good and has great sounds, huge

With KAPOW doing Beatles with Expo release, the downside is there will be no pro model.

Just super douper expensive, limited and premium.

Do KAPOW do their own manufacturing or do they use Stern - just looked at their website and the pics there, which are branded dually kapow pinball and stern??

Knowing Nintendo I doubt it will be Zelda. Can’t see it being harry panter... Elwin did have a jaws cap on at pinburgh :)

If Nintendo did a game it’d probably be Mario Kart. Zelda would make a nice LOTR-ish game, but I doubt it’d do that well. You don’t **** about with Zelda - do it right or not at all.

the twipys were great the STDM guys did a great job hosting it and it was great to get a mention thanks to those who voted for me :D it made my day :D

Love his statement that making pinball doesn't have to be hard:eek:

Robert Mueller: Every newbie or long-time fanatic we’ve shown our trade secrets to has not only been blown away, they have been overwhelmed with the sheer breadth of our project, and simultaneously endowed with a renewed passion for pinball and what can be done with the right vision and team. If you consider what a current pinball company does in a year or two, people have forgotten that pinball doesn’t have to be hard, doesn’t have to drag on at a snail’s pace, and doesn’t have to be limited by pinball’s closed-minded echo chamber. We are here to ruffle feathers.

And wonder if we do our own code?

RM: We’d like to give our programmers and the player more control over the code. So, no one will ever be able to rationally blame us for incomplete code.

But we won't find out for a while as it is one of many trade secrets.

RM: This is one of hundreds of trade secrets we are keeping to ourselves for now. Yes there will be growing pains with this type of assembly line at first. While pinball might be easy, manufacturing is not.

So, Fire and Brimstone anyone??? ;)

RM: So back in mid 2015 when I was working with Ben and Charlie, Ben wanted to do a Bible Adventures game and Charlie was like…no. So Ben and I started talking about ideas and it became clear that we had two very different takes on the theme. I have not spoken to Ben since. About a year ago, I started designing Fire & Brimstone layout, mechs, and rulesets. It will be the first religious pinball of its kind. We have partnered with Kingstonefor the artwork and collaborative Christian marketing. We wanted a grittier take on the Old Testament stories that Kingstone has done so well with. We intend for Fire & Brimstone to be enjoyed by people of all denominations or faiths (Christian, Non-Denominational, Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, LDS), or no faith at all.

Oh boy, the promises, the promises :D

RM: LOL! No. Not at all. The bar is so low right now I think the bigger issue (for us) will be to continue to raise it after our launch.

They are still coming across as obnoxious. I know it's an attempt at a marketing style but it's really making me want them to fail.
Anyone can make a claim but without providing anything in the way of substance it just makes him sound like a blowhard.

Totally agree; and its not just their marketing style; it seems to be the attitude full stop. Puts me right off, I kinda hope they don't just fail but they go out with a huge ****ing bang.

Yep, great way to alienate your customers in my view. Never good to slag off the competition when you haven't even made anything yet.

The TWIPYS were great and well done to @Neil McRae for getting a mention.

As I've said before, it's a great time to be in pinball!

WOW, just read the whole interview on TWIP.

Are these guys for real? "The bar is low" with regards to pinball?? I'm not sure I've ever seen such arrogance. Half of it doesn't make sense. No assembly line? So will these machines magically put themselves together??

The whole thing is comical. Good luck guys!

I am really intrigued as to what on earth Deeproot are up to.

30 patents - that alone is serious money.

Games not shipping if the playfields can't survive a sledgehammer? What on earth are these guys talking about? I guess no games will ship then.

Just a sledgehammer ??

They need to up their game - Sega was making games 20 years ago that could handle assault by sledgehammers, pickaxes, spears, fireworks ...and needed a dumper truck to take them down !

Remember kids ...don't try this at home

listened to Kaneda's pinball podcast and these deeproot guys will either be the Messiah or ridiculed for all time!

Neil.

They're promising the Earth. Their claim boils down to a novel production method that allows them to crap out machines on demand without running production line costs. I can only imagine they're going to make *very* heavy use of CNC machines and 3D printing along with a bunch of custom designs that allow them to bespoke produce parts and fixings that do not require large amounts of manual tooling or supply chains. A lofty claim indeed and one that flies counter to their suggestion that these won't cost astronomical amounts per unit.

Extraordinary claim in need of extraordinary evidence, which they do not wish to provide because they are claiming that it will harm their chances.

No reason to feel afraid to cast doubt on these wild claims, because all such 'bad-mouthing' would be retroactively nullified the moment they reveal their magic and produce the goods. Until then, if you aren't beyond skeptical, you're a mug.

EDIT: Just seen the claims about the sledgehammer, based around the idea that they're claiming that they will resolve dimpling, too. That's almost worth a Peter Molyneux award right there. Too many claims all at once. Even if they're being 100% totally honest they're setting themselves an unmanageable goal - and all on top of taking on the debts of JPop?

Just nuts. Nuts, nuts, nuts. I'd love to be proven a cynic but who is going to actually bet against me on it?
