I'm changing all the GI bulbs in my TAF, as I'm not keen on the warm white non frosted bulbs it came with.

I'm torn between fitting natural white and sunlight. I'm leaning towards natural because I prefer cool light anyway (hence changing), but sunlight bulbs complicate it..

Left is natural, right is sunlight.

Interested to hear thoughts...

I have natural in mine and they look great. As close to incandescent as you’re gonna find. Which for me personally is the desired effect

Thanks.

Unless I'm mistaken it doesn't look like there are many GI bulbs in TAF? I haven't taken anything off the playfield yet, but I can see there are a few around the back but besides that I can't see any around the middle of the playfield apart from the Thing flip one?

I'm surprised there's no swamp GI at all...

Thanks.

It is quite a dark machine...especially the top left quarter. The fact that the pops aren't always lit doesn't help either. I added a few extras to brighten mine... one under the ramp near the pops, in the swamp, a spotlight to illuminate the bookcase area....

Fitting a clear ramp instead of the stock 'smokey' one really helps also.

For some reason Lawlor games often only have 1 lamp at the slings? Anyone else notice that?

It is a dark machine... as Sgt says. I added the led rings on the pops for exactly that reason... whilst a little ‘tacky’ it starts to solve that problem. I suspect pinstadium would lighten it up a lot, which would be good... however unfortunately pinstadium is $$$ and a royal PITA if you are lifting the of every 5 mins ?

There’s a couple that are mounted in the middle of the plastics... which is unusual.. and lights the plastics, however not the pf area..!!

I would personally go for warm if the colour is mainly on the red spectrum and cold when in the blue.

@Durzel did you choose one? Could you take a picture ?

Not sure to go warm or cold now:) seen some picture of both and the translite look pretty good in cold.

I'm going cool (natural), as I prefer it. Haven't had chance to change many bulbs yet as was waiting for a delivery from Comet first, and have been preoccupied with removing side rails etc.

Sunlight is a decent halfway house though, better than warm at any rate (though again I am biased - I like colder temperature LEDs)

Could you post a link to which ones your getting.
I was looking at some in Aliexpress.

What LEDs for G.I?

These for playfield:
https://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/2smd-ct-ft.htm
(Natural white, Frosted, Bayonet fit)

A mixture of these for the translite:
https://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/4smd3528.htm
https://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/1smd5050.htm
(Natural white, no lens, wedge fit)

For blinkers - a mixture of:
https://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/1smdblink.htm
https://www.cometpinball.com/product-p/1smdfastblink.htm

Thing flipper uses a #555 bulb too, so have got one of the 2 SMD ones linked at top in that fitment too)

I have no idea of AliExpress quality but I've never had any complaints about Comet. Takes about 2 weeks to arrive though + customs charges.
