Sega / Data East Maverick - Sound playing constantly

Hi all

I came across this issue a few years ago (I'm sure with another Maverick) - where the sound plays non stop. I can't seem to recall what caused it, but it all works just fine apart from this.

Once the game is switched on, the background tune plays. It's a lovely tune, but may start to get tiresome!

Any ideas?
