Complete Roadshow - Under construction

Looks great, which decals did you use in the end?

Got a deal on a thick vinyl set. It's not silk screen quality but to be honest silk screen set would be worth more than the cab. 😂

When you said “I spent the day cleaning my neighbours garage” is this a service you offer as mine in desperate need 😜

With the tent gone, I used his garage which is basically a workshop. The bloody paint had left some overspray so I spent a few hours scrubbing the scree clean. 😆

Wasn't looking forward to powering this on, preparing myself for a transformer blow out. Bare in mind it looked like this.

Now looks like this

Thankfully it booted!

The DMD was unfortunately toast. Pure garbage on the screen. Lucky I keep some spare.

I've got one switch failure and the heads eyes don't work correctly so looks like I'll be stripping the heads down.

I had to switch one pop bumper bracket as the stop on the end had come off.

I switched out all the incandescents with comets and replaced some blown fuses. The board was provided from a pulled stick pile so the blown fuses weren't related to the pin.

All coils appear to work.

Backbox was resprayed and translite was cleaned up.

Added on the powder coated support rails

Stripped the heads down today. Dear God Ted is such a pain in the ass to remove.

I believe Ted is all fully working now. However I seem to have a solenoid failure on 'eyes shut' on both heads, need to check fuses.

Reds head has been more trouble. Her right eye keeps sticking. Looking at the crank arm it appears to be lob sided causing red to go crossed eyed.

I've ordered a replacement part.

Both heads were filthy, all cleaned up now.

Spoke too soon with those bloody heads.

Initially thought I had issues with the power driver board so switched that with a spare. Then the spare had no 50v, turned out to be a blown fuse from F112. No idea how or on what pin that was in when it blew but whatever.

The issues with the eyes shut and open on red persisted along with the eyes open for Ted. So I had to remove everything again to see what was going on.

Ran continuity checks on the wiring, passed
Ran checks on the voltages, passed.

Took off Reds head first, what do I find? The solenoid for the eyes shut has been intentionally cut and hidden away within some insulation tape under the coil.

On top of that the eyes shut and open coils were in reverse positions with eachother. Further to that the coil that was in the eyes shut position was fried with the wiring from the lug completely destroyed.

This could have been to do with the coils being in the wrong spot.... I've ordered a new coil.

Ted's head had a snapped lug on the eyes open coil due to improper mounting of the coil. The wire harness was caught in between the jaw motor...

Even more annoying was the nylon fork and plunger kept catching so I had to take it all apart and clean it all (again). It finally all works.

The mechs have to be more annoying than the TZ clock!

Bit more progress Ted now pretty much reassembled. Replaced some switches and repaired a snapped flasher harness.

Found out this game has been left in a warehouse off for the last 12 years today!

Today felt like 1 step forward, 3 steps back.

Fixed the last piece on Red as she kept going cock eyed on tests. Turned out the eye plastic fork was pretty distorted and bent out of shape so I replaced it.

Once the new part was fitted her eyes reset correctly. I proceeded to fit the faces back on that Holly had repainted for me to find Ted's eyes no longer opened...

After some trouble I deduced Q55 on the power driver board had decided to die... Yay.

I've fitted my spare power driver board until I sort the failed part.

I then noticed peeling on the metal backboard. I really should have sent it off with the powder coaters. Sigh all well I've removed it now and sanded down the peeling/rust.

Next up I put on new decals for the hats and replaced the transparent plastics.

Hopefully the wire forms cone back from the platers this week.

Should have just sent it to the Powder coaters, Would have been easier!

really nice restore so far! did you find this one at the bottom of a canal?
Thanks!

It was left in a puddle of water out in the rain.

Further to that it hadn't been turned on for the last 12 years!

Amazing what you’ve achieved considering the history and state it was in. 9/10 really would have salvaged odd parts and skipped the rest.
Well done for saving it 👏

Thanks it's been a huge amount of effort to get it this far.

Hopefully in a few weeks it's all completed

Harness is now reattached to the wire form.
Switches all hooked up, plastic ramps all fitted, diverter reinstalled.

Game is up and running!

Couple of things to sort.

Replace coin door
Upgrade left shooter spring to a stronger spring
Add in some missing rubbers
Replace metal flap near shooter lane
Add apron cards

A truly remarkable and beautiful transformation. Very well done, indeed!

New coin door fitted, remaining missing rubbers fitted.

New shooter spring fitted to the left shooter rod.

Dialled in the game messing with the eddy boards etc.

Final thing left to do is to replace the left flipper pawl, must have a cheap ass variant as it refuses to grip/bite the flipper.
