New and looking to buy first pin

Hi,

I've been lurking in the background for a little while. Joined Pinside before finding this site, but now spend more time reading posts here.

I retired a couple of years ago and now looking to buy my first pinball. I loved the look of Scooby, but saw so many people having issues with the early run of machines.
Then Pulp Fiction was released, loved the film years ago, so really fancy this.

Now keep seeing how the 007 keeps improving with updates, so tempted with that also. I love the early Bond films.

Torn between these 2 games. And thinking NIB is better for me as a newbie, with getting 2 years of warranty. Keep seeing modded Godzillas and Jurassic Parks, but obviously no back up if things go wrong.

What are peoples thoughts on PF versus Bond? I would be looking at a pro version of 007, would i be better getting a premium? Appreciate there'd be a long wait for PF 😜

Cheers, Rich

Welcome Rich,
If you want one now - bond, any bond. if you can wait for a year or maybe 2, PF.
personally I'd start with a bond pro and then you can sell and buy a PF in a couple of years time.

NIB price to used price a couple of years old will cost you £1-£2k generally. Not a bad cost considering you'll have had so much fun out of the game over those couple of years.

Hi Rich, welcome.

As has been mentioned above, Pulp Fiction hasn't been released yet so nobody has played it for any length of time to make a comparison.

I'm sure it will be excellent but Bond is ready to go now.

Welcome Rich

I have a Bond Pro and can highly recommend it. Great layout, loads to do and love the theme of the old Bonds which works really well in the game. Best recommendation I can give is that had a casual player over and after playing a few others, only wanted to play Bond and loved it.

Godzilla is a great game too but reckon Bond is much more accessible for a first time purchase.

I wouldn';t worry too much about things going wrong if buting 2nd hand and always help and advice on here and people who can come out to repair.

I'm useless technically and to be honest a NIB almost always requires some adjustments. Sometimes you're better off being the second owner if you buy from someone who knows what they're doing they will have sorted the teething problems, dialled it in and also modded it too . Either way, as already said, amazing help on here

A NIB will probably give you a lot more trouble than buying a used game from a known entity on here.

A home use only game - HUO will be virtually new and a good initial owner will have updated the software, fettled it, dealt with any factory updates/ known problems etc etc

Thanks for the welcomes and advice yesterday. Bond seems to be the way to go, and love the theme.

I've seen Pinball Heaven and Retro Arcade Specialists have 2 year warranties, is there a preffered seller? The latter is £300 cheaper.

Cheers, Rich

Bond is the right choice mate.

Pinball Heaven have one in stock and forum members get a discount so worth a call.

He probably doesn't do promo codes mate. Definitely worth asking for a forum group discount though.
