Am I correct in saying that when installing additional LED's to the GI 6.3 VOLT AC circuit you must add a small diode on the negative leg of the LED and a resistor (I think 27 ohms) on the positive leg I know special pinball LEDS come with the resistor etc but will half-wave rectification be ok for small additional LEDS?

A LED is a diode, so no need for a diode, but yes a resistor needed to stop the LED blowing or blowing early.

to calc value you need to know the spec of the LED you are using and the voltage you are putting through it.

tons of stuff you can google, like "calculate led resistor formula" eg. https://www.circuitspecialists.com/blog/how-to-determine-resistor-value-for-led-lighting/
If you are using a led bulb such as those supplied by comet then the resistor is encapsulated in the body of the bulb, but yes an led on its own will need a resistor.
