Hi All,
I've always loved pinball machines & wherever I came across one (holidays usually) I just hung off the end of them till I was dragged away kicking and screaming (usually by a Landlord trying to close his pub for the night)
It never really occurred to me that I could actually own one of these things at home.
I can't remember what prompted it, but, a few months ago, I started watching pinball repair videos on YouTube.
I was hooked. I then started watching electronics videos on YouTube & I can't get enough of them.
I'm from an engineering background (early retired) and I've already begun clearing my garage & spare rooms of potential pinball occupying space.
I'm looking to buy Williams/Bally for my first machine (SS or EM).
Can't wait to stick my multi-meter into some 1970/80/90s dust.
Hello.. nice to meet you all !

Welcome, I'm glad to hear your not going in blind by clearing out your garage and spare rooms. Your going to need all the space you can find and some, as this will become a life style and not just a hobby.

Fond hazy student memories of Durham, regards to The Dun Cow inn, 10 different taps along the bar, a pint of each in under 2 hours and if you didn't vomit you won a tee shirt. Great days. Ruined lots of shoes and never got the t shirt. Welcome Lord Bucket Head. Are you a real Lord or did you buy it online?

I had a feeling it might. I've already briefed my pinball-collection-division (wife & her friend) to prepare for weekend road-trips ;-)

I like a pint in Durham myself (most weeks) but I'd struggle to get 10 down in 2 hours. Buy a Lordship online you say ? hhmmm... (strokes chin thoughtfully)

welcome @LordBucketHead I'm a pinhead and fairly close by in Hartlepool!!

Cheers

Hi newdos.. I'm guessing you're well used to travelling long distances to buy machines. Everything I've looked at so far is right down the country. I think I'll be clocking up some miles in van-hires & sleeps in Travelodges. All part of the adventure I suppose :)

to be honest I usually just see them on the forum here and then get martin(our pinball specialist delivery man) to pick them up.

Cheers

Blimey.. brilliant post. Hats off to you.
Not in my wildest, wildest dreams would I ever have attempted that.
I'm the sort that tells the police what time I plan to return from Tescos & to launch the chopper if I don't ring in.

Have you been to NERG over the last five years?
erm.. no.. I've never heard of it.. but I've just looked at it ont interweb & I'll defo be there if it's on next year.
Gateshead is mackem territory so that's great. That's a lovely web site.
I'll just have to amuse myself with agricultural shows till next year :)
