Grounding strap insulation

The backbox speakers on my Star Wars are humming loudly. Am I right in thinking this could be caused/worsened by uninsulated grounding braid?

Both speakers are attached to back plate of backbox using bare grounding braid.

Anyone know where I can get some insulation from please? Searching all the usual sites for “grounding braid insulation/sheafing” I’m coming up with nothing.

Can I just use any old kind of tubing - e.g. aquarium tubing?

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

No, insulating the braid wrong make any difference, but you can use heat shrink sleeve to protect against it shorting the DMD assy.

Re the hum, I'd make sure the sound board is securely screwed down at all points. Ensure none of the screws have popped under the board and that they're holding it securely.
