Factory Reset STTNG when switched off.

Hi all, I have a STTNG pinball which when switched off goes to factory settings. The battery holder is separate with red and black wire to board, I have replaced the three AA batteries as thought they may have died but no difference.

I can reset the game back to free play but when switched of it resets to factory settings again

Can anyone suggest what might be the next thing to look at / look for?

Could be loads of things ,but we better start from the beginning!
Do you get 4.5v from the battery holder ?
Do you get the said volts reading on the board where the battery holder connects up to ?
Is the battery holder connect to the right points on the board ?

Thanks for the help.. Must have been a loose connection from the battery holder to the board. It seems to have sorted itself out now.
