ColorDMD LED help

Folks,
As you might know I'm a fan of the LED version of ColorDMD. But there is one downside. The pixels when not in use are quite in your face. I think I have the answer which is to put a smoke/grey perspex panel infront of it rather than a clear one. That way when the detail of the LED panel will be camouflaged.

Anyone able to knock up a panel that would fit ? @replicas you knocked up some clear ones for me can you do one that will hide panel dots? :)

Image attached shows the issue well.1522220f20e47782fd4035f14322b792d266d2fb.jpg

Neil.

Are you using the Clear screen Neil? Was suggested to me by Randy to order the Clear screen when installing in a Spike Machine - Not sure if that applies to all, or if it would make a difference??

I've got 2 games with anti-glare DMD plastics in and they're great at stopping the reflection from windows or screens behind you. I'd expect they're also good at defusing the LED dots a little too, but haven't tried i because i'm an LCD ColorDMD DotsXL kinda guy.

Try this lot: https://www.simplyplastics.com/cata...-glare-extruded-acrylic-sheet/c-24/c-84/p-303

Pinball News also did a thing about them (albeit not this supplier, but probably the same material): http://www.pinballnews.com/learn/antiglare/

yes I'm using clear, hence you see the individual detail of the dots as in the picture above. I think if you have a shaded one you will still get the LED but without the detail of the dots. Tonight I'll take a picture and demonstrate with my RunDMD which has the same problem but solved by a grey/smoked piece of perspex.

Could be a good mod as that was main thing I didn't like about LED. Also bit too bright for me.

I never thought of using some sort of tinted perspex - kind of like adding sunglasses:cool:

Thanks all -

ok ordered a couple of them to test, not sure it will solve the issue but the low glare I need anyway :)

If anyone can supply this I'd really be interested .
