Ok, to be honest I wasn sure if I wanted to publicise any shop log on this machine but how can I not share such a find with you guys? ?

So what do you get if you cross this:

You get my new project machine

Now I’ll admit it needs a little clean up...
So I’ve rolled up me sleeves and dived right in!

I see this is an early production game (transformer in backbox and the system 3-6 style PSU).

I'm sure it will be a rough diamond when done even with the playfield as is (well polished at least), just add a slightly better backglass and some elbow grease.

So I’ve had a couple hrs on it to break the ice..

I had nothing at all from the power board

Maybe it’s homesick? It does like household products ?

Reverse of the board shows previous harassment

And a few fatalities.. poor Spider-Man

Usual suspects in the ID parade lineup

Got a feeling they’ve been sniffing crack

A fresh lineup should help things

I know the pins are the wrong shape but I’ll be changing the plugs on the loom too ?

So a quick spin in the missus dish washer and a date with the hair drier left this..

Feeling a little better about putting power through it now it’s got pinball fuses ?

Had a quick poke around the main flush mechanism

Think I need some toilet duck to sort this mess out?

Hahaha that’s some funny ****. I know I’m not the best but at least I keep my eyes open when soldering ?

I’m sure you can see that’s the reverse of the connector between the boards..

I got a blow torch out to try and ge through the crazy rock hard solder? Soooooo much heat must have been applied to this to get it that far. Thermite is then!

Erm... where’s the pads gone?

I’m guessing it’s been soldered with 50% lava and 50% wrought iron

So I think I’ve found out who’s been working on these boards?

Teflon fingers!

So mostly I’ve been taking of church roofing and replacing with solder.. oh and mending missing tracks and pads.. enjoy!

Do ic chips grow on trees?

Still lots to fix here. It’s not really a board worth repairing but I’ll try anyway..

Back to fixing tracks and sockets etc

Some new connectors fitted too. Still waiting on the through hole repair kit to arrive so no connector rail fitted

Added some power to check basic boot.

It’s flash 0 off and 0 solid so that’s kind of what I expected from bad roms and issues regarding not having the through hole connections needed around the cpu area.
Still I’m happy with that for the time being ?

I don’t have any test roms so I just played with door closing and removing ic roms to get test codes

Still a very sickly board but it’s moving in the right direction!

As you know the interconnect section of the main boards is fooked and the through holes missing in many places.

Bought a bag of 3-4mm through hole grommets and set to work!
I realise this is likely overkill as a thin wire through the hole under the connector is fine but I wanted to have a go as it’s something I’ve never done before.

The inter connector is being changed out to a different design but more on that later..
