6802/6808

What is the difference between a 6802 and a 6808 chip, if any. Can a 6802 be substituted for a 6808. Thanks Ken
 
As I understand it the 6802 should replace a 6808 but not the other way round I believe.

6808 doesn't have the onboard ram that the 6802 has. Best check the data sheets for both and do a pinout compare

So am I.

If it's relevant, the older Williams cpu boards can use either of these processor chips. With a 6802 fitted, then provided the internal ram is enabled (by a jumper change, AIR), one of the 6810 ram chips can be removed.
