This arrived just now. Bally Kings of Steel.

Been in storage for many years.

Can I do a really quick fix and repair and get it ready for Sundays league meet?

Unfortunately I am away tomorrow, so literally got 24 hours on Saturday (in between last minute shopping and cooking for Sunday)

We shall see……….

Also came with a nasty looking mpu board from another game. doubtful that will boot

Literally the first I have ever heard of this game

What a backglass!

Not sure if you mean software mods, but if you want to tackle hardware mods then this kind of thing looks interesting:

Basically move the gate from the left flipper up to the target lane, then have the target return the ball to the shooter lane!

Good luck with it either way. Looking forward to your meet Sunday!

Yes thats the one Ive heard of

Agreed with the boss that I could spent 30 minutes on this tonight, just to assess what might need to be done:

First job legs on:

then the head

Lucky dip down the rabbit hole for the wiring - all seems to be there:

No front door key so:

Drilled out in less than a minute

All looks complete and not back nick:

Ensured all the wiring is there by plugging everything in, but will unplug before power on.

Then I find a bit of a show stopper, minor but I need the part:

The right flipper plunger is loose, the flipper plunger bracket is missing.

its one of these:

IMG_1367.JPG that's the left flipper which has it.

A dig in the bottom rear of the cab and I find some broken parts:

Looks like the left one broke as well, but was replaced. As a temp fix, I might be able to weld the bottom bit back on to the part that is still screwed to the flipper base plate???

30 mins are up. Might get a chance again tomorrow night.

Ive got a spare brand new MPU board, so as long as the power supply checks out good, I will try sparking it up.

Got back early from my trip away today so time to press on. first job is this broken bracket

The flipper plungers are knackered the heads are mushroomed, the end stops are terribly mushroomed too. all to be replaced

Someone decided to oil them too. yuk!

Next job sort those flippers, then onto the electrics.

Rectifier board working fully but a couple of blown fuses. also under pf fuse also blown

someone has cut both wires off the left pop bumper

I guess the solenoid was locking on and blowing fuses. there was 4 empty fuse packets in the bottom of the cab! 😂😂

The pop bumper is on Q1 so i popped the sdb board out. sure enough it’s shorted, so I replaced it

The sdb voltages all ok, 5v fine, tried the original mpu board, it won’t boot at all, so in with a brand new MPU

Game booted, and started. quite a few lamps out, replaced bulbs but no joy so switched in a lamp driver board that I recently fixed and tested. All bulbs now working!

Solenoids checked out ok all working

rebuilt the main flippers with some spare parts i had, now working ok.

Some switches not working, and it needs a damn good clean and rerubber

All original score displays fully working!! 👍

Should be fit for Sunday! Yey!!!!

Your uncle, cousin or brother (whoever it was) seems to have taught you well on the welding front. Looks very good 👍
